toneslut transformer problem question. help please

Post by wsaraceni »

i got my whole amp built, fired it up, voltages looked in range. no sound at all. start poking around and find that the two brown heater wires are grounded. i went as far as to unsolder them and take them all the way out of the chassis to mak sure they werent touching anyting and they are definitely grounded. what can i do? do i have to order a new x-former? if so that would suck but will do. they

I'm not familiar with Moose's trannies, but is the heater winding center-tapped (and grounded)? That would explain the readings.

yes. turns out the problem is not a problem at all. i think the issue of no sound was due to the fact that i had the middle post on the bass connected to the right post on the treble instead of middle to middle.

i cant check until i order a new tube socket because for some reason this one is bad. i cant get a tube pin to go into pin3 hole

Some of the new imported noval sockets wick solder up the pin a little too easily -- check to see if this is what happened.
