Internal Shots
Im almost done putting together a roadster kit (but with the tone section of a rockster ie a mid pot) from RJ. Im just wondering if you guys can see and problems. As I wrote in my last post Im still not sure if the 240 OT lead goes to the power jack or to the On/Off switch. Im In Australia so Im using the Heyboer 5199 120/240 so I only have 2 leads, the 0 (black) and the 240 (black/yellow)

Re: Internal Shots
Ok so I got the PT all hooked up and checked everything over (well I thought I did lol) so I thought I'd hook it up. I plugged it in (2 a box and the wall) and powered it up. The light came on. All of the tubes (including the rectifier) slowly started to glow nicely. Then I decided to plug a guitar in and take it off standby. Nothing. No sound at all. So I turned it off. When I turned it over I noticed one of the resistors on the power caps had changed color. So I put the multi meter up and I realized I've put 2 of the resistors around the wrong way. I had a 9.1k where the 18k should be (that one discolored)(between the 40&20 uf caps) and the 18 k where the 9.1 should be (between the 2 20uf caps) I haven't had a chance to change them around yet.
Would that stop the amp from producing sound?

Re: Internal Shots
I would check all of the wiring against your schematic or layout before you fire it up again. I can't quite make out the power tube wiring but it doesn't seem right to me.

Re: Internal Shots
Morning,
a wrong (half) power rail R can´t be the reason for no sound. Max. a different voltage on the 2nd stage. So your problem is mybe in that aerea were Mark mentioned.
I guess you have a current problem resulting from a bad grounding ion the powersupply.
Your layout is not very helpful too. You have everywhere the double of necessery wire length and bad crossings.
My tip: down with the wires and than follow step by step the orig. layout by useing short straight lines and 90 degree crossings at least with signal lines.
Even if you find your main problem, you will suffer of waste signal or problems with the high voltage rail (crosstalks). Believe me.
A Trainwreck is a example for high gain amps. Theres no forgiving.
wish you sucess

Re: Internal Shots
i cant see the input jack well or the speaker jack wiring in the pics but the ground buss behind your pots doesnt appear to be connected to the chassis.

Re: Internal Shots
I agree with Mark too.
Use the layout and or schematic from rj and start from where the power comes in from the outlet... Put a check mark on every wire our common tie point that you can confirm on your amp. You will soon find an extra or missing connection that you will have to change. You could check to see if the amp is functioning at this point but my advise is to go through it thoroughly before you power up again.
It's a good idea to change those resistors that were discolored... Even if they show the right value on your meter. They may not hold their value under a load.
