Rocket + Brilliance
Im getting ideas for a next build for after I finish my first build, a liteIIb.
Id like to build a rocket with a added brilliance channel but still be able to keep the integrity of ken fishers rocket.
So I have no idea how to get the ef86 in there while keeping the integrity of the rockets filtering and use of an ideal power transformer. Or maybe the clone transformer will be fine.
Thoughts?

Re: Rocket + Brilliance
The rocket needs no added brilliance. The reverse cut control is great for adding an ultra chimey effect.
I would build a rocket stock first.

Really no takers?
Im talking about a ef86 channel like the matchless dc30 with a vol and 6 way position knob. But the twist would be in a ken fisher style.
What exactily dose the reverse cut control do verse a normal cut control?

Re: Rocket + Brilliance
Have you done a search for the DC30 schematic?
That'd do it.
Add the channel, mate it with a divider to the PI.

Re: Rocket + Brilliance
Just follow the DC30 or the BN voxy 18 add two more EL84's.

Re: Rocket + Brilliance
By cut pasting the dc30 ef86, wouldnt the original rocket channel be suffering as now I have to share the filtering with the ef86? Trying to keep the original rocket tone as much as possible
Or maybe I wouldnt need any more filtering as id only be using one channel at a time. I have no idea. Sorry guys, I obviously have very little knowledge in circuit design
Thanks

Re: Rocket + Brilliance
You would not retain the TW tone unless you go with two channels.
Re: Rocket + Brilliance
Mark, that BrownNote is interesting, there are two chassis connections on the preamp groundbus...
Re: Rocket + Brilliance
Just deceiving there is two one for preamp and the second in the middle is for PI. Not connected together Moss just placed it right smack in the path of the black wire.

Re: Rocket + Brilliance
The rocket reverb has an extra 12ax7. Would you consider it to have the original rocket tone when the verb is off?
I dont have the reverb schematic but the layout looks like the filtering is the same with the 22ufs on top. Cant see the bottom ones though.
Still trying to figure out if adding a ef86 to a brilliance channel is going to dramatically mess with the original rockets tone or if adding a larger cap would be ideal to compensate.
Thanks
