Capacitor Question
I see on the original and many "clones" the capacitors "stacked" I'm wondering, how in the heck are they fastened?!?!? i have yet to find anything or a good picture to see it! If it's just hot glued, I have huge reservation with that as vibration and heat could loosen it.
Can someone please supply some feedback?? Thanks in advance.

Re: Capacitor Question
It's silicone glue. This stuff works so well because it is sticky as fuck but still has a lot of give (making it well suited for vibration resistance). It also might have been another one of the ways in which KF was trying to kill resonance in the chassis. As you may or may not have noticed there are strips of weather guard inside of the chassis, these are placed inside the amp somewhat strategically to dampen any natural resonances that might occur in the chassis. In my first successful Express build I noticed that with no tube shields installed and no dampening in the chassis, the amp would develop a high pitched ring on it's own. I could simply place my finger on the amp to dampen this (even with my best 7025's this ringing happened). Tube shields and the weather stripping killed this ringing. It's a pretty neat mechanical way of fixing an electrical/design issue IMO.
Also some people warn to only use silicon glues without acetic acid. As the glue dries the fumes created are supposed to be corrosive to aluminum but I haven't had any issues with this yet. The acetic acid I think is gone once the silicone is finished drying AFAIK..

Damn Dude! That ALL makes sense!!!
Thanks for clarifying what KF and other are using.
The acid deal makes sense and I could see where it could affect other material, so I'll watch out for that. Finally, yes, i have heard the high pitch overtones, but just attributed it to the tubes and what was happening inside them! If it is really is a resonance affect, yes some sort of fluidampr material to dampen the affect would help and maybe "silicon" is it! NO, I did not notice KF used it in the chassis! Soo, thanks! I have some HD pics I'll really look at.

You should have been taking the time to READ before asking because all answers would have been given in this section. https://tubeamparchive.com/viewforum.php?f=3

Re: Capacitor Question
Damn Mark, wake up on the wrong side of the bed? I think everybody gets at least one free question thread before being told to use the search function

Re: Capacitor Question
Yup but I did give damn good links though
Re: Capacitor Question
Dear M Fowler, i found your shared link is very valuable for me, from this i got my answers of questions which is irritating me from last two days. Thanks buddy for being shared here and i hope you will keep help of us.
Re: Capacitor Question
Yeah, and the search function is old skool (90s) search engine schema.Cliff Schecht wrote:Damn Mark, wake up on the wrong side of the bed? I think everybody gets at least one free question thread before being told to use the search function.
Default is "OR" so if you're looking to narrow down your search with multiple attributes, it's confusing.
If you want to search on "glue power caps" you need to literally type in "glue and power and caps".
Re: Capacitor Question
Or use google, such as:
site:ampgarage.com glue power caps
site:ampgarage.com glue power caps
Re: Capacitor Question
UPDATE:
FYI - I've been using the GE Silicon I/II (whatever it is that is 100% silicon) from home Depot. Thanks!
