Finally finished a cab for my Express clone

Post by mike9 »

I was so taken with the Song Writer 30 pics on the Train Wreck site that I felt compelled to borrow a little from it. It's a nice cab and was worth the effort. The face is curly maple and the faceplate is lacewood.

I hope saturday is good weather for you the color ought to be nice by then.

Believe it or not that maple came from Lowes - a six foot 1 x 8 of 5A flame maple for . . . . $28 8)

That's a real beauty Mike!

I have a Tele body made from Leopard wood which is similar to lacewood.
But man is that thing heavy!
I haven't finished it yet.

I think flamed maple is my favorite figured wood.

Many, many violins have used it for the back wood over the centuries.
Of course they call it fiddleback. :D

Don't let that smoke out!
