i see people talking about master volumes. since pre and post both begin with the letter P, is PPIMV a pre PI or post PI master volume? if it's post, then are you talking about something like the matchless type? thanks. jmac

My experience is that most people mean post PI when they write that acronym but each individual may use it differently. We should be more specific.

There are 3 or 4 differing post PI masters and the crossline Matchless is one of them. Here is a link for the MV section of the trainwreck pages.

thanks. i've used a couple of the KF variations. i've heard a lot of good comments on the dc30 variety. excellent schematic.

If I'm not mistaken isn't type 4 a Pre phase inverter type master volume? That one looks pretty much like what is on a Marshall 2203/4.

Yes, #4 is the basic pot to ground type which is a pre-PIMV.

There are a bunch of people who don't like the crossline style but I have to say, I do. It is easy, you can make it switchable and it sounds good.
