mercury trannies for the rocket

Post by ampmike »

Hey Guys,Does anyone have an opinion on the MM TW trannies for a rocket build.Just curious? They are not cheap!!I understand that the rocket isnt quite as sensitive to substitutions,I may be wrong,Also I have a set of mercuries used for a metro 50 watt plexie,Would it be possible to work those into a rocket build or would that be a bad idea?Mikey

Mikey a 50w Rocket yes but not the TW traditional four EL84 build.

Those trannies would make you a nice Dumble ODS or Marshall Plexi buddy.

The Rocket is an AC30 stripped down to just its Top Boost channel with a couple of Ken's tweaks.

It's like the ultimate AC30 and really suits an open-back cabinet with a pair of Golds.

Mikey I am happy for you that the Express is up and running good and have fun this week with testing it out. :D

The Rocket is voxy and a very nice amp to have.

You can just use a reverb pedal if you need reverb. There are a bunch of reverb layouts already posted or I can send them to you Mikey, no problem.

Save those Mercury transformers for a Komet 50 or 60.

Oh and what Paulster said he knows his TW's. :)
