I've not been here long enough to know any of you well, but I didn't read anything threatening in Mark's post. It just read to me that he was excited to make a road trip to see another commercial TW Style Amp.
Stu-Daddy here.
I'm not really a forum kind of person, not that there's anything wrong with the
forum.
I just usually don't have the time ,so joining was maybe wistful thinking.
But as far as "harvesting information" as the above poster suggests.
Is this wrong ?
Is it OK for you but not for me ?
And as far as an ambiguous remark about a ROAD TRIP made over the internet combined with a slanderous post.
You tell me who's out of line Mr. Fowler or me defending my companies
name ?

I'm not an attorney, but I've looked up Slander, defamation, etc and really don't see how anything he posted qualifies.

It might have been insulting, but that is about it.

I have no problem with you harvesting information, Reading thorugh the Memberlist you find many people who do not post or post little. Many probably found they really werent interested. Some are here to collect information and go their way.

However since you are in a position such that you have experience at building TW amps, it would be nice if you would share some of what you have learned.

How do you voice an amp?

Do you have difficulty in tube selection for input gain stages?

Have you learned any specific tricks to eliminating hiss from the high gain design?

etc...

I am quite sure the rest of you understood that I enjoy visting with fellow amp builders and have plans to attend amp shows when I retire but apparently I am not welcome to bring a motor home anywhere near Michigan so I quess I better tell Bruce Egnator I am not coming to visit his shop. :(

Boy this guy is a piece of work.
Stu-Daddy here:
Mr. Fowler was advised to remove the slanderous posting or that he would be sued and here's the email itself:

I would suspect Stu-Daddy has a friend on TAG or he himself is a member. Interesting history repairing since 1989 and located in Michigan.

I need to get a motor home and road trip.
I will have these remarks reviewed as well.

Since the slanderous remark had been reposted for all to see ask yourself
if it was you, and the slander was directed at you.
What would you do ?
Again I apologize for all of the trouble to this Forum
Stu Daddy here:
Mr.Fowler posted a unnecessary flippant remark about my company combined with an announcement that he wishes to travel to see me over the internet .
Then when I inquire as to the intent of his road trip he posts on this forum
that I'm a "piece of work" instead of telling me his true intention.
Forget about the guilt trip that he lays on me further by saying he can't take the trip now .
So now all of the things that you are accusing me of you can accuse
Mr. Fowler of as well.
Will you though ?
I doubt it ?

Is there anything "wrong" with it? Technically, no.

Is there anything "right" with it? Taking, without giving back? Is that how you want to live? If you have children, is that how you want to raise them? I would suggest a better principle is to try to find a way to either pay it back or pay it forward. To live otherwise is to be a leech.

Interesting that you aren't a "forum" type of person, except for how it could possibly benefit you without cost.

I have nothing personally against you. I do not know you. But at least a part of how you have represented yourself here is not encouraging.

As mentioned by a prior poster, there are many opportunities you could seize to contribute here - especially if it would be to repay any benefit you have taken from this forum.

I understand that your web site had the wrong pictures on it. I do hope you understand that the impression that left here was justifiably negative. Since your site is your business, you really need to be MUCH more careful w/r/t what you show the world. To be honest, your "oops" is a little difficult to take at face value. It's hard to believe you would not check the site personally to ensure that it is showing exactly what you want it to show.

You would have more insight into that statement if you had been here for a while and knew some of the members on a more personal level. That was a completely innocent statement about a roadtrip. Mark routinely travels to meet with players and builders who share the love of music and amps.
Stu-Daddy wrote:I don't know Mr.Fowler
Exactly
Stu-Daddy wrote:so I couldn't possibly understand what his intent was when he made that statement. We can continue on with our lives and chalk this up to a big misunderstanding.
Which is why threatening a guy you don't even know with litigious action on comments taken out of context in a place you have very little history with...seems like a big misunderstanding. Mark's a helluva nice guy and a friend to many here.

I have already stated that his comments may be insulting. However I see no reason to threaten someone with litigation over insulting statements.

Call them out and ask for an apology, sure. No problem.

Stu-Daddy here,
For the sake of argument let's say it's insulting instead of slanderous.
I didn't deserve the insult combined with an announcement that the poster
wants to travel to see me.
Having never spoken with Mr. Fowler I'm not at fault for not understanding
his intent.
When I emailed Mr.Fowler about his intent, instead of telling me that there's an apparent misunderstanding ,he decides to post to the amp garage.
Choosing to air his dirty laundry here instead of apologizing to me for the insult.
I don't mind because I'm right and Mr. Fowler is wrong.
End of story

Stu-Daddy - you don't need to preface each post with "Stu-Daddy here". It is enough to see your name attached to the post.

OK, I'll say it. Where I come from, we call guys like you a dick. I don't do business with dicks. I hope no one else does either. Go ahead, tell me to cease and desist. :!: Do you realize how much you have harmed your business through your actions and words?

You are entitled to your opinion and I'm sorry that you feel that way.
I apologized for the mistakes and took the pics down.
I'm sorry that you feel the way that you do .
I apologized to the forum and I have no wish to make
any more enemies from this incident.
I deserve every criticism and insult that I have received from ever poster on TAG.
I am a big boy and I can take it on the chin anytime.
My only desire was to show how sorry I was for this
unfortunate episode.
I also want to apologize to Mr. Fowler for misunderstanding his intention
of traveling to visit me as a threat after he insulted my business.

Stu-Daddy

I am going to offer three observations and one suggestion, take what you like, leave the rest.

Observations:

1. TAG is a unique and special resource where sharing opening is valued more than competition. TAG members seem to be adamant about keeping it this way.

2. While we may clone amps the designers of those amps are, for the most part, respected and in the case of Fischer revered (because he shared openly). Cosmetic trademark infringement for profit is rarely met with favor.

3. There is only one fight on TAG. It's always the same and it never gets pretty just more and more nasty. The fight occurs when the group in mass or as individuals reacts negatively to a "lurker" or "braggart" who does not share or participate with the group and them takes information from the group seeking to profit.

Suggestion

Stop now! You will not win this particular pissing match and the more you interact negatively the more you demonstrate what kind of person and businessman man you are. MANY builders of significant notoriety interact, share and support this form, it's good business for them, many of us buy their amps or use them for service. Personally, I think you know this already why is why you removed the trademarks off your web page when you saw the groups reaction. (sorry I'm not buying the "posted by mistake", if you can build an amp in a week, you can proof your web page before it's loaded)

dam............ now I'm bitching also.
