v1 flashes at power up?

v1 flashes at power up?

Hey Guys,My express is done and Ive been making a head cab these last few days I noticed when I turn on the power V1 kinda lights up and then goes back to a normal glow.Like a flash!As soon as you hit the power switch after the amp is cooled down it does that,Anything I should be concered about?The preamps are all nos mullards,Thanx Mikey

Its normal for some tubes. mostly Euro tubes. Some of those have a seem across the top.

Mullards flash like that. It's kind of disconcerting if you've never seen it before.

After a while it becomes kind of comforting...

The original Made-in-Holland Amperex Bugle Boys do that too. Those are my fave tubes in V2 of a non-MV Marshall and in the Top Boost section of an AC30.
