Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
I'm new here, and I'm starting to build my first TW Liverpool for my son. I followed as lead to construct the amp the TW Liverpool schema from Ken Fisher, and the Liverpull layout schema from Ceriatone.
I followed the schema from KF through the Ceriatone layout, and noticed a different at capacitor C2. KF schema C2=50pF, Ceriatone layout C2=500pF. Question: what is the best to use for C2 50pF or 500pF? Or does it not matter?

Re: Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
The Liverpool shares the same circuity as the Express and the Express is showing a 500pf cap for C2 so I am sure it should be 500pf.

Re: Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
Liverpool used a 50pf treble cap. although a cool sound is the 500pf treble cap and a .002uf mid cap.
Re: Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
OK, thanks. I'm going to use a 500pF for C2.
Re: Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
Although I never owned/built one, I always figured that 50pf T-cap on the L-pool schematic was an error.M Fowler wrote:The Liverpool shares the same circuity as the Express and the Express is showing a 500pf cap for C2 so I am sure it should be 500pf.

Re: Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
The original value of Liverpools was 47pf never 500. This is Nick's own value on his kit

We'll have to see if he is watching this discussion and corrects that.JamesHealey wrote:The original value of Liverpools was 47pf never 500. This is Nick's own value on his kit

Well I have been reading for the past three years that the Express and Liverpool are identical except for the obvious power section now I am told they are not? That must have been meant to read the layout is the same components may vary.
Readers beware.
No big deal as I used Ron's layout when I build my Liverpool so I probably did use the 47pf in that position.

50pF gives a very deep mid-range scoop to the tone stack profile similar to a stock BF Fender, while 500p results in a profile similar to the Express.M Fowler wrote:Well I have been reading for the past three years that the Express and Liverpool are identical except for the obvious power section now I am told they are not? Re: Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
the liverpool also uses a 250k for the bass and the express 1 meg
anything worth doing, is worth doing right
Re: Capacitor C2 TW Liverpool
Yep, the tone stacks are different between Express and Liverpool.

Also the rc filter of 2n2/68k is peaking at about 1k which is higher than an express, so the mid range that is lost in the 50pF tone stack cap is regained here I believe to some extent. Different amps in more than power tube choice and OT.
