Loss of output sound.

Post by RockinLocken »

After trying a few more keyword searches I swapped out the 12AX7 for 5751 dropped the PI to an AT. Fired it up and played it a bit noticeable volume decrease not to bad a sound, but lossed the crank, then zip to a faint distortion sound. What'd I fry this time?????

I'd say a tube. You can check which speaker jack you are using, I found that the one without the ground connection from the output transformer can be weak.

Thanks Keithrick, speaker cable short. I need to get in the habit of check double check and recheck as Paul Ruby says. Thanks again to all.

Glad you got it up and running! I feel like an amp "GURU" now

Mr. Ruby has good advice! I've leaned a thing or two from him as well.
