If you have never built an amp before, a TrainWreck might be a little ambitious for your first project. It is a fairly high gain amp, and such amps pose a few more problems than a new builder needs to deal with. You might be better off building an AX84 P1, or some other simpler, lower gain amp as a first try. Trust me, your first amp build won't be your last :)

As for electrocution, its not so much a question of building it wrong as it is a matter of touching something that you shouldn't. When you go to the AX84 website, you'll find info on how to be safe - study it, and don't start your build until you are sure you understand.

After you get the P1 built and working, head on back here, and build yourself a Wreck :)

ax84.com is a great site, and the P1 is a great first amp build. Many have been built, so you'll have a lot of help there.

I built an AX84 P1, and it does sound good. Its a clean to moderate-crunch type of amp.Not as agressive as a TrainWreck for sure, but still nice.

As for being intimidated, just be respectful of the electricity that runs through these things, and you'll be OK. Learn the right habits, and you'll live long and prosper. Its not hard. Just read the warnings and the proper way to work safely OVER and OVER AGAIN until it makes sense to you.
