MOV?

Post by Gibsonman63 »

The varistor on the parts list (Express Build) is coming up as oblsolete from Mouser.

I am not sure how to spec one out and I would rather be working on building my amp than researching

Does anyone have a part number for a suitable MOV for this application , preferably from Mouser?

Obsolete

Post by Gibsonman63 »

The link works, but that part number comes up as unavailable and obsolete.

I didn't know Radio Shack still sold electronic components. Last I looked, they no longer sold individual components, just grab- bags full of stuff now. The last time I went there, I ended up paying $6 for an RCA to 1/4" mono adapter that took the guy 20 minutes to find. I had the hardest time explaining what mono was to this guy.

Needless to say, I much prefer to buy on line whenever possible.

I guess I need to bone up on my electronics again. The MOVs seem to be rated by clamping voltage and Joules.

I used one of these from Mouser on my Express build with no apparent problems.

Looks like a couple are still available from Mouser. If not, I think I have a couple spares and could pop one off to you if you get into a real bind.

Good luck,

Thanks Dave. It looks like they have plenty in stock, so I'll just order a few from Mouser.

MOV for Express builds

Post by RJ Guitars »

I have a bunch of them that match the original part number given in the Ron Worley BOM. I have been selling them for 65 cents as part of an Express package. Send me a PM to verify your address and I'll send you one gratis...

I don't really think that original part number is anything magic.

The specific part may have been obsoleted for a RoHS part. They have different endings or extra endings in the #.

I was trying to order it from work with my screen in a reduced mode. On some sites, you miss a lot that way!

Should I submit an ECN (Engineering Change Notice) to get the BOM updated?
