Magnetic Components OT for Rocket

Post by CircuitButcher »

Greetings, wondering whether anyone has tried a Magnetic Components OT for a Rocket, 40-18001 (described as a SuperReverb/Bassman 4/8/16 Ohm output with M-6 laminations) [ http://www.classictone.net/40-18001.pdf ] or an opinion as to it's suitability based on the posted specification. TIA CB

I am using a set MC Super-reverb tranny set in this new Bassman project that I have on the bench right now so can't comment on how it sounds yet.

But I have used other MC trannies for Marshall JCM800 2204 and 5E3 amp which sound very good to me. The price is right and they are high quality.

MCI makes the Dynaclone 470 that many here have used. So I don't know why others haven't posted here to say that they like the MCI Dynaclone OT in the Rocket. Anyway, the Dynaclone is 4300 ohms on primary and this one you are considering is 4200 ohms.... Also the one you are considering is cheaper than the Dynaclone. So I think you are on to something.

I also have used the JCM800 OT (3X) from MCI the Bluesbreaker OT, the Marshall 18 watt OT, and the Champ OT, as well. I really can't say enough positive things about this transformer manufacturer and their transformers.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

Oh I didn't read the post very well did I.

I used triodestores Dynaclone A-470-S for my Rocket EL84 version. rjguitars also carries the Heyboer version of this the HTS-8093-1
