My cab is a 1960a Classic. It has 16 ohm Greenbacks wired series/parallel for a total load of 16 ohms. It is also a mono cab like yours and like the originals.

Re: Rocket Impressions
From my experience I think that means that you "have it right". I know it's possible and I have done things to push them over the edge but the clean tone with that sweet chime is world class stuff... From the info I collected on the development of the Rocket amp that was exactly what Ken Fischer had in mind.CapnCrunch wrote:...at the time I thought I would only use the Rocket cranked for overdrive tones, and that was the reason I wanted to get the 4x12 to a place where it was useable.
Wow, I was so wrong. My honest assessment now, is that the Rocket is a much better clean amp then it is an overdriven amp...

Mine is a slant that I got when I bought an AVT 50.
A half stack if you will.
At the time I didn't know it was just a single preamp tube and SS power amp module.
I thought it was a "tube amp"......
The speakers if I recall are nothing special. Some low budget 12's.
It's a 8 ohm cab.

From my VERY limited exposure to hi-fi stuff, a sealed cab makes it a "bass-reflex" speaker. I know the hi-fi crowd is very picky about air leaks so maybe Jim is onto something by sealing the cab. I'm not even going to pretend to understand the physics involved.
The Rocket Reverb with a Tele is my current favorite setup. My settings are similar to CapnCrunch's except that I don't roll back the cut in the bridge position. Instead, I've gotten in the habit of rolling back the guitar tone just a smidge when I flip to the bridge pickup. (My control plate is flipped so it's become a natural thing to nudge the tone while flipping the switch.)
As for comparisons to the AC30, I've never heard an original. However, I did have the chance to compare to one of the new AC30 RI Handwireds. IMO, the AC30 RI sounded thin, raspy, and just didn't fill the room the same way the Rocket does. I don't know how to explain it, but it lacked "dimension" if you know what I mean. If Moss drops into the thread, I'm sure he'll elaborate more, but I was incredibly disappointed with the Vox.

Re: Rocket Impressions
There are different ac30s and they sound different. A top boost model with tone controls responds very different than a no top boost through the vib channel. The Bulldogs have a very distinct tone as well. I sold mine but have wanted to give the rocket a chance.
I've got blisters on my fingers!
