I added a switched 10uf cap on the bias of V1b that adds some nice gain.
oouu, isn't that like painting a mustache on a picasso? Wait, I guess I added reverb to a few rocket builds....guilty as charged.

But wait (in the voice of Will Farrell after getting shot with a tranquilizer gun on Old School), adding gain is different than adding ambiance. :-)

I've been using a 65Amps London as my primary amp, which I crank. I think it will be for sale soon, however. I use an attenuater and get what clean I can by turning my guitar volume down. Long story short, I got rid of all of my drive pedals because I never use them anymore. After playing this amp with my Les Paul, I'm going to have a hard time plugging an OD pedal into it.

That being said, I've recently started playing at a new church, and we're doing some songs that require digital delay and modulation. I'm finding that the distorted power amp doesn't sound all that great with time based effects. So, any recommendations for good drive pedals for the Rocket?

I've been on the lookout for a Butler tube driver, and am getting ready to build an early Triangle Big Muff (gradually putting together a Gilmourish rig). I also found a source for a pcb for a Cornish G2, so that's on my list.

I use a TIM distortion and a Barber Small Fry overdrive. Both sound very good through my rocket build. The TIM is a fantastic pedal, for which the rocket eats it no problem at all.

Hey Ron,

Thanks for the recommendations. I know a couple players who use the Tim pedal with AC30 flavored amps. It seems like a versatile OD. It sounds pretty good with both single coils and HB's and seems to work particularly well with these types of amps. I may have to get over my aversion to paying $200 for a pedal. When I found out you could build a straight up clone of a Zendrive, or Big Muff or a Ratt, or original Bluesbreaker etc. etc. etc. for about $30 including the enclosure, I decided to never pay full bore retail for another OD. I haven't got around to building any of them yet though.

Do you use any other effects regularly? I really need a good digital delay. I want a Damage Control Timeline but it's $400 and it takes up half your pedal board. I've been kind of looking at a Strymon Brigadier which is a digital delay that is designed to replicate the analog sound of the bucket brigade chip but with all the nice features of modern delay. I think I'd be better off with the clarity of a true digital delay though. Ahhhhh the quest never ends..........
