All these fine examples of Rocket builds lately, and the praises they've received, have inspired me to build one for myself.
Not being the patient type, I wasn't willing to wait for a set to EL84-appropriate transformers to be ordered and delivered when I had a set on the shelf that I'd been saving for a 4x6V6 build. I was sort of planning a higher powered Princeton Reverb when this Rocket idea hit me. So I decided to go ahead with a 4x6V6 Rocket Reverb instead.
I thought I'd share some in-progress pix for those that might be interested. I've done as much assembly and wiring as possible without the turret boards. The next step will be cutting the G10 for the turret boards, and staking them.
I've strayed quite a bit from a "real" Rocket, so here are the details:
PT: Edcor XPWR008, 300-0-300, 200mA
OT: Allen Amps TO40MT (Heyboer) - 40W, 4K primary, 4/8 secondary
Reverb Driver and Choke are Fender replacements from AES
Additional Features
Reverb, as implemented by Normster (Matchless) in his Reverb Rocket
Variable Voltage Regulation (VVR) of Plates, Screens (+Reverb Driver) and PI, at least to start. I have no idea how effective this will be with this amp.
These next two I think I got from Rawnster's build. They sounded like cool options to try:
- three-way bright switch, selecting either nothing, 100pF or 500pF to be paralleled with the 100pF bright cap
- three-way Fat/Full switch on V1B cathode bypass cap, selecting either nothing, .1uF or 22uF
This will eventually live in a 1x12" combo cab.

Re: 4x6V6 Rocket Reverb In Progress
If it sounds as cool as it looks, you'll have a winner......
I just got out of the garage after spending about a half hour with my new Rocket, a Les Paul and an analog delay.......mmmmmmmm creamy goodness. I've always preferred 6v6's over el84's so I'll be really interested to see how this turns out.
