Rob, good job and thanks for posting your music. Did you turn it up yet?

Yeah, I guess as long as you don't overdrive the output tubes too hard, you can get a good bass response out of pretty much any tube, as long as your tone stack & coupling caps are chosen carefully. It seems to me 6L6/KT66/KT88 are more "bassy" than others, but that could just be my imagination...Structo wrote:I was surprised at the bass response I got out of a pair of 6V6's.
I may try some JJ 6V6. The tubes I have in it are from the early 60's (silver top Sylvania's) so not sure how strong they are.
Was that with the UL hooked up?
And yes, the amp is still wired ultra linear, but I'll be rewiring it "normally" in a few days to compare the sound. I have a feeling I'll like the normal pentode type wiring better.
Thanks! I'm really out of practice; I stopped playing like 10 or 15 years ago, and just picked it back up last year when I started building amps. And yeah, I've been a big Rush fan since like 1980 (Farewell to Kings was my first Rush album that I heard/bought). I used to play tons of their music, and remember a few riffs here & there.Colossal wrote:A fellow /2ush fan eh?? Great choice of (intro) song Rob!!The amp sounds very good. Well done.
Thanks, man. I cranked it for a while and it's brutally loudM Fowler wrote:Rob, good job and thanks for posting your music. Did you turn it up yet?
Thanks for the comments, guys.

Cool amp! Balsy tones, for sure. Another nice twist on the Rocket framework.
