lo watt liverpool

Post by smolder »

I am doing some research for a possible future project. Looking to build a wreck type amp, but I don't have a need for yet another 30+ watt amp. It was suggested that a "two hole liverpool" might be the answer.

I also reviewed the T-rex schematic... and having just built a couple of 18watt variances... would like to take a different approach. And... I looked at the SE solutions. But learning more about those is a bit down the road for me.

Using M. Kriijger's very fine rendering... I simply removed the two outside power tubes. Is there any reason to adjust resistor and capacitance values for this power adjustment? Also... I am guessing that this (extreme?) level of filtering is a contributing factor to the trainwreck's performance?

thanks in advance for any help and direction.

Edit: corrected drawing

Am I missing something, how are the output tubes biased? It won't work as drawn, but it sure will be quiet  ... You need cathode R's....

Just get a Liverpool schematic and alter the output section - paying attention to the cathode bias resistors.

I thought that's what I did (finding the latest and reading the discussions). I'll go back and look at the others on the board in comparison.

Oh crap... I erased the 220uf/50r... put it back on.

There have been a lot of 15 watt versions of the Liverpool built in the past. You should have a lot of documentation out there on the forum. Here is a link to the 15watt liverpool combo I built a few years back.

I know Dartanion and SSt240 have also had good luck with the design. What trannys are you using?

Thanks for that link UR12. I'd search (for low watt, and 18 watt) and browsed some 200 topics back but had not come across that yet. Great read and will be very helpful.

I have a set of heyboer transformers that were labeled as AC15.

Lower wattage Liverpool

Post by Macshaft »

I have just completed a 4 x 6AQ5 liverpool and the results were excellent . I used a different P.S. at only about 300vdc B+ and utilized a Hammond 1760J(4000CT) fender replacement OT rated 35W . from my crude calculations I determine it is putting out between 20 and 25 watts .
