Hey guys!!
I'm starting the build of my first express and just following the comedy at TGP I read that Glen pointed the fact that the new pacific PT comes with the wires on the wrong side. I checked the pics and it seems to me he is right, anyway I drilled my holes and rotated the PT 180 degress...my question is....is that critical? Do I have to drill the hole on the other side and rearrange the caps? or just rotating the PT was the right thing to do and keep the hole for the wires where its always been? thanks for your comments

i'm not sure what you're saying here. do you mean the wires exit on the long edge of the bell instead of the "normal" short edge of the bell? if so, that's a screw up on pacific's part by using the wrong bells. other than that type of screwup(assuming they all exit from a single hole and not 2 holes, like on a vast majority of standup style trannies----most of the ones like the heyboer and pacific types we use have all the wires come out on one side so you can actually use them either as standup or laydown, depending on your build and needs---so these are really just laydowns with standup bells installed) they'll still be the same. rhredshark wrote:Hey guys!!

Re: couple questions.....
thanks for the quick answer but I went to the "undocumented express" pics and it seems to me that that PT is just like mine. Maybe pacific is not consistent on how they have the bells placed and the wires coming out but I'm fine. Time to keep making holes. Thanks, is my first build and probably I will come with silly questions like all first timers but please be patient with me guys. I'm not claiming on my first build that I will re-engineer TW amps like some other newbies....

Re: couple questions.....
All the wrecks I've seen have the power transformer mounted with the core edge forward, the bell ends right to left and the wires all going through the chassis near the corner. That puts the wires on the inside coming through near the pilot light, and therefore not over near the caps where they can cause clearance issues. I don't think Pacific has changed anything, you just have to swap your transformer 180 degress and you are set.
Re: couple questions.....
I used Pacifics and other than Pacifics having different color wiring I found no difference in the placement of the transformers.

Re: couple questions.....
thanks guys, if you see the pics of francesca and the pics of the "undocumented express" you will see that it seems that the PT is rotated 180 degress from the PT of the other amp. That is all...confused me a little but thanks again!! , as I said before I might come out with silly questions like any other newbie.

thanks for this new pic, this shows a little more detail than the one in the express guide although my boards don't perfectly match with this layout, still I think it's close enough what i already punched. Wish me luck guys!!
