Heaters - fake center tap?

Post by sliberty »

The pictures of Francesca show that a pair of 100 ohm resistors on the heater circuit, but the Kelly diagrams (schedmatic and layout) don't shows them. The tranny I got from Moose has a heater center tap, so I imagine that the resistors are not needed, but I am hoping for confirmation. Also, did Ken not have a center tap, or did he ignore it and use the resistors instead?

All thoughts on this are welcome.

Usually you implement one or the other - either the actual PT center tap, or the "fake" one with 100 ohm resistors. If your PT has a center tap you are not required to use it - you can seal it off and use the resistor approach if you choose. Some feel this is safer for the PT since the resistor will act as a fuse in case of a short, whereas the CT will just flow all the current it can.
Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...
