This is an SG Through a Digitech Hot Head (unfortunately) boosting my 5W liverpool clone and me trying to play some of Glen's music.

I thought that amp sounded pretty dang good. Better imitation of Glen's playing than I can pull off!
On that note, I would love to have tablature for that entire album Glen!
Oh, and when is "Can you hear it ring 2" going to be released?

Why do you need to use any boost? Can't you get the gain you need by turning it up?JamesHealey wrote:This is an SG Through a Digitech Hot Head (unfortunately) boosting my 5W liverpool clone and me trying to play some of Glen's music.

It's got no Phase Inverter so it's a tad less gainy than a real wreck, but it's still a screamer

There's a lot of hum in that recording. Where's that coming from?
Excellent playing man!

Cool. Your amp sounds very nice and your playing is pretty killer.JamesHealey wrote:the pedal and pc mainly, the amp is dead silent.

Re: My poor imitation of Glen KuyKendall through 5W Liverpool
James,
That was pretty cool. Made my day. Sounds nice and fat to me!
That intro run on "Can You Hear It Ring?" gets a bit of flak in the Youtube version which by the way is NOT how I originally played it on the CD. In the video not knowingly I played it the hard way, though I did get the sustain and the end which was my main objective. It had been years since I recorded it and I hadn't yet figured out what I had done on the original CD version. Anyway I've since finally figured out what I did, which using just 2 strings is much more efficient and easier though you do have to dampen the open notes quickly. Anyway, here is some scribble that shows how I did the intro run on the CD. Later the run is played effectively backwords (with a couple changes) and then ends on a LONG high note held with controlled feedback. Both runs are done in harmony actually, both sustained at the end. In the studio I wore earplugs, and put the amp and 4x12 in the small control room with me. I didn't wear headphones, and instead cranked the control room monitors as loud as I could get them (3 way JBL 12s with about 500 watts) which suprisingly didn't leak much into the close mic on the cab. It was a loud evening of tracking, but that is why there are alot of very LONG notes!
Folks have asked about doing a TAB book for the CD and hopefully I will make some progress on that this winter.
I know the point of your post was about your amp's tone, but I'll take the musical subject matter as a compliment too!
