Re: Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

I spoke too soon. The power switch is different than Im use to seeing on an amp. Its a three position switch. The middle position is off. The up position is on and the down position is REV. Im not sure what that means but before when I had the black wire on the switch both up and down turned the amp...

Re: Gretsch 6152 Reverb doesn't work

I would love to have a dwell on my reverb. I got to try out a Kendrick reverb with dwell and it was sweet. The repair sounds a little over my head but I want to try so I will research all that you've said and see if I can tackle the job. I saw your website and it rocks! I will learn a lot from it Im...

Re: Gretsch 6152 Reverb doesn't work

If it helps the Gretsch 6152 was sort of a big brother to the 6150 and 6151. It was also sold as the Supro model S6422TR (and S6522TR), National model N6422TR, and Airline model 62-9025A. I believe it is the smallest single end amp that has both reverb and tremolo on board. I had heard the stock rev...

Gretsch 6152 Reverb doesn't work

I bought a model 6152 Gretsch amp a couple weeks ago and the reverb was dead when I got it. The reverb tank is housed in a cardboard box but the tank itself is much like any other except smaller than any Ive seen. Someone must of tried to mess with it because one of the long springs is busted at the...

Re: Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

OK, I moved the black wire to the tip of the fuse and the death cap is out. I think that will work great.

Re: Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

Three different wiring options?

1) Black to switch with death cap

2) Black to switch without death cap

3) Black to tip of fuse with death cap

Re: Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

OK, got it, I think. Mine seems to follow the schematic. So, just to make sure please. Ive got the black wire to the middle pin on the fuse side of the switch and the white wire is on the opposite side middle pin. The green is to ground and is longer than the other two so if the power cord gets pull...

Re: Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

If I snip out the capacitor, wouldn't I need to move the black wire to the fuse? Maybe Im not understanding how the backup safety part of how the death cap was suppose to work. If black and white are just on the switch how is that in the right line up for the fuse to work? Sorry if Im out in left fi...

Re: Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

Is the death cap the one that goes from the fuse to ground?

Re: Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

They both go to the switch. Its a 6 pin switch and the wires are both on the middle pins opposite of each other. I shouldn't go to the same spot where the old wires are soldered?

Gretsch 6152 Power Cord Replacement

Hey y'all, I just got a Gretsch 6152 "Compact" tremolo reverb and it has a two prong power cord on it that I wouldn't trust on a small lamp. I bought a new 3 prong power cord for it but when I pulled the chassis I noticed the old power cord's two wires are the same color, grey. I replaced the 2 pron...
