from Electronics: Applications and Concepts (1995): "Most engineers prefer to use voltage doublers, or even quadruplers, to attain a variety of voltages throughout a circuit. Transformers are too large and bulky for some designs and often need to be isolated far from other sensitve devices within a ...

Re: 1st Amp Build Suggestions Also 1st post here Hi

might I suggest the atomic 16 schematic, or one of the ax84 high octones. The atomic 16 sounds better I have heard, but I wouldn't know from personal experience.

Re: DC heaters

thank you for the suggestion jaysg, so a proper use of shielded cable and dc heaters on the input stages and of the more extreme gain stages would probably remove at least some noise?

DC heaters

What is the advantage of these. I have someone that wants an amp built and they have requested DC heaters, what are the advantage of these? I am assuming you have to rectify the 6,3v filament wires to straight DC. would this require a half wave or full wave rectfier?

The other guys are right about the number of gain stages, building volatge gains across multiple stages. The ecstasy actually needs a good power amp to rid...
