Re: Blackface an ultralinear (135W) Twin Reverb?
Thank you guys! First off, this is not my amp, but a friends. He does run pedals and likes the big clean of the UL Twin. At this point, I'm just trying to learn as much as possible about these UL Fenders since the opportunity has come up. Again, anyone who has tweaked these with successful results, ...

Blackface an ultralinear (135W) Twin Reverb?
Does anyone out there have any experience/pointers for blackfacing a 135W ultralinear Twin Reverb? I was thinking about converting the PI & Driver to AB763, and just wanted to be sure this is safe in these models. I have heard that this may not be a good idea. Any other pointers for "helping out" an...

Re: Tone Control
I beat off to my friend's '58 tweed Princeton every time I hear it!! It's basically a tweed champ with a single tone control added, and installed in a slightly larger cabinet. Quite possibly the best sounding amplifier I have ever heard in my life. It's still completely original. I've heard that Gar...

Re: Anyone running a 15" speaker with a Dumble style amp?
I too have seen/heard Steve Kimock play his Dumble & his Two Rock(s) through a 15" and yes, it sounds absolutely incredible!!!! Even better a 15" & 2x12's!!! Don't think it would work for Speedy Chops McGee though....

Re: Fender SuperReverb Torres Mod
Yes, I too have had poor experiences from this particular "guru". When I was starting to experiment with mods, I bought his book, several articles, and a few kits. The book does have a few good insights, but for the most part I would not recommend it to anyone. (He told me on the phone that the arti...

Re: Some things I've found, about 6l6 fender blackface design
I'm still looking for a way to get more clean headroom out of my Princeton Reverb build. I upped the PT using an Allen oversized xformer, upped the OT sith a deluxe OT and dropped the bypass caps. All helped but I believe it can be cleaner still. Thoughts.[/quote] I've had some luck getting more hea...
