Wouldn't it then make sense - at least for people interested in facts (as opposed to speculation) - to simply ask the Roy Brothers about it via their Instagram account?

Re: Kitty Hawk (actual Dumble?) for sale
In the pictures from the Reverb ad, I think the gray Colombia Flexfoam cables running from the FET input jack to the FET board and back are clearly visible. However, I don't see a cable labeled "Tandy" in these pictures, perhaps because, as far as I know, over time (and due to dwindling supplies?), ...

Re: Kitty Hawk (actual Dumble?) for sale
Thanks for these additional images to show that the chassis, circuitry, components, and build quality of the replicas made by Kitty Hawk are completely different from the chassis, circuitry, components, and build quality of this "Kitty Hawk" Overdrive Special on Reverb, which, according to the Rever...

Re: Kitty Hawk (actual Dumble?) for sale
Until now, I've only seen this OD version in two ODS amplifiers. One with a serial number below 20 (which is where the two photos come from) and a second with a serial number between 20 and 30. So the one now offered on Reverb with the modified logo according to the ad text, is the third one I've ev...

Re: Kitty Hawk (actual Dumble?) for sale
You're absolutely right. The internal components (transformers, cables, electronic components, etc.) of the ODS replicas from Kitty Hawk shown in the pictures you posted do indeed look completely different from the internal components of the Overdrive Special offered on Reverb with (according to the...

Re: Kitty Hawk (actual Dumble?) for sale
If I remember correctly, carbon film resistors (e. g. Allen Bradley) are not that uncommon in Alexander Dumble's early ODS and ODRS amplifiers in his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation chassis. Here's just one example:

Re: Ben Harper cleans an amp:
Do you think it is possible/probable though that Brian Wilson had a 50W and a 100W amp? It seems odd that Ben would misread the serial number on the back of the chassis right in front of him. Also #97 (the real one) has the sesame street block style DUMBLE logo on the back, but #109 has the script ...

... I don't have access to the Dumble book. ... Therefore, I've attached another picture of Dumbleland Special #008 with the two smaller potentiometer knobs for the two filter rotary switches: DL #008.jpg Incidentally, an "Odyssey Special" 100W with such smaller knobs for the filters was discussed ...

Re: 'Dumble Lives On' Drew Berlin Premier Guitar interview
... Maybe it didn't have the post-PI driver in it originally and that was added? Need to see the documentation. To date, I have never heard of or seen a Dumble amplifier with at least four KT88 or 6550 power tubes without a post-PI driver. Therefore, I personally consider it rather unlikely that th...

Re: 'Dumble Lives On' Drew Berlin Premier Guitar interview
Different size knobs, inaccurate positioning, and different indicator markings. Actually looks pretty crudely done. As can be seen from Dumbleland Special 150W #008 (pictures for example in "A Dumble Book" on page 90 and on this picture here https://ampgarage.com/forum/download/file.php?id=61974&mo...

Re: 'Dumble Lives On' Drew Berlin Premier Guitar interview
... One obvious thing is the filter selector knobs and markings on the front panel are not original to that amp, and that alone qualifies as a topology change. The story told by Berlin is here: https://youtu.be/rVF7WhnAfkk?t=80. In the video you linked, I couldn't find any comments from D. Berlin i...

Re: 'Dumble Lives On' Drew Berlin Premier Guitar interview
Thanks for the link to the Wikipedia explanations. ... AFAIK it was unusual to convert one type of amplifier to another, in the sense that its basic topology was changed. One such example is the Dumble Special to SSS conversion for SRV shown in the NAMM show videos (picture above https://ampgarage.c...

Re: 1978 Dumble ODS 50
,,, He recounted to me that the amp chassis designed in Santa Cruz by HAD were not suited for 4 noval tubes (seemingly in his understanding of HAD's opinion) and that if this amp had 4 noval tubes it would impact the sound of the amp. In my opinion, the mere existence of the Dumblelator and the Dum...
