hey Tom.
What about the tubes in your friends amp. Are they decent?
When i ordered the 6A14, it gave the option to leave the tubes out for $30 and to leave the Caps out for $15. I still have time to make that change.
Any thoughts on that?

Re: Need parts advice for Blackface Princetone Reverb project
Attached is my first swing at a parts list for the Princeton reverb ($917). It's based on the parts list from the weber site, but i I used Angela.com, tedweber.com, and HauffmanAmps.com to find parts that i felt were quality. Going the self sourcing route (so far) definitely puts me in the price ran...

Re: Need parts advice for Blackface Princetone Reverb project
Thanks. I'm not really trying to save every penny possible here. I know that buying bulk would help. I'm only planning to build one amp though (at least I think), I am mainly interested in feedback about the weber kits. They are so much lower priced than any of the others, that i am wondering if i c...

Re: Need parts advice for Blackface Princetone Reverb project
Do you know how to do that? If so, can you pass along the process?mcrracer wrote:If you are going to build amps you have to learn how to buy even the good parts at discounted prices. You can not save any money paying full retail prices on everything. The kit sellers have learned how to do this.
Thanks

Re: Need parts advice for Blackface Princetone Reverb project
yes. I've looked at the Mojo kits. They're pretty expensive. I believe i can put the parts list together on my own, using top quality parts and come in a couple of hunderd less than Mojo. I'm wondering if the Weber kits are really low quality, or if i could put one of them together, then replace a f...

Re: Need parts advice for Blackface Princetone Reverb project
Does anyone have any experience with the Weber 6A14 combo kit? It's the Fender Pinceton reverb model. I've been looking all over the web. I heard one that sounded great on youtube, but I've also heard that they use some cheap parts. I've been using the Weber parts list, from their site, to create my...

Need parts advice for Blackface Princetone Reverb project
Hello. I am putting together the parts list for my first scratch build project. A Blackface Princeton reverb. I have created the parts list, but i am not sure of which brands to purchase. A buddy suggested Hammond transformers. I don't know what kind of resistors , capacitors, pots to buy though. I ...
