Re: Anybody make a Z-28 type kit?
On the pic of the Dr Z, it shows a choke. What do I do about that?

Anybody ever run a Deluxe Reverb into a Greenback?
Im going to build a DR clone. I am just trying to figure out if I should get it in a head or combo. Considering available space and the expense, I would love to get the head and run it into my Greenback or 15 watt Bluedog. If I do this will it be a waste of time? I guess my question is how essential...

Can plate voltage and cathode current tell me how much life
I am going to purchase a bias probe type device. I understand that these are used to match power tubes, but can the information they give be interpreted to show how much life is left in a tube?

How to interpret the measurements on nos tubes
When buying tubes, often the seller will say "these test at 76 where new is 70 and minimum is 40." What do those numbers represent and where can I find the information that tells me what is good and what is nos and what is minimum?
Thanks,
Jon

You guys are awesome, but now Im REALLY confused!!
Basically, what I want to do is be able to bias tubes, I can do that with a bias probe or Webers Bias Rite or a similar device. Ok, That I get, but I would also like to be able to test how much life is left in a pulled tube so I know it wont die on me 10 minutes after I get it home. Is there one dev...

Re: Building a tube matcher
Thats very cool, but it is way more complicated and expensive than I need. Has anyone built the one in Weber's book? Would it work for el84's with the test point on pin 3?

Building a tube matcher
The DIY tube matcher described in Webers book is only able to test tubes like the 6v6, 6l6, el34 etc with the cathode on pin 8. If I want to build one to match el84's do I build the same rig but with the banana plugs and resistor on pin 3 since that is where the cathode is on the el84? Has anybody e...

Are Mallory caps essential?
I have been looking around at caps. The Mallory caps for the Express are around $20 each. There are other caps, made by quality manufacturers, ie Sprague, etc for $5-8. Is there any difference in tone or are they just used to be exactly like Ken?

I apologize. I was having a bad day and unfortunately, mcrracer caught the flak.
I feel badly about calling him a dickhead and offer my apologies. I know that kind of behavior is not acceptable here and it wont happen again.
Sorry to all,
Jon
