New Rocket (sorta)
I posted here a few months ago when my Rocket first got fired up. It still works 8) Anyways, when I posted, it was just the chassis; about a month ago I built a cab for it. Its a 1x12 made of cherry stained in purple. The lighting isn't the best so the grill cloth looks more purple than it really it...

Re: Express with KT66s and 12AT7s?
Besides the changing of preamp tubes, what would be a good way to keep the gain down and and not loose the clean to mean effect?

Express with KT66s and 12AT7s?
I would love to have an Express that isn't so high gain but still does the clean to mean stuff just as well. I know the 12AT7s would tame the gain but would they destroy the clean to mean volume compression? And would effects such as delay work better now that the gain is lower?

Re: So, A Trainwreck Rocket Clone...(looking for price quotes)
 $6,000  MC for a man with your talent I'd say you are giving that amp away... I think the street price for an "ordinary master builder" usually starts at $2500. rj Lets say I were to buy a ceriatone clone for about $1100, then hand it off to a builder to put the attenuator and reverb...

Re: ,......
The D'lite is $2200 for a 22w amp, I'm not paying that much for an amp. The OTS is $1400 for a 50w amp (shipped) which is more reasonable. Besides, the D'Lite is Dumble inspired, the OTS is a clone of Dumble (the best that they could do anyways). In my opinion, I don't see a single thing the D'Lite...

Re: ,......
It seems you want a great deal out of one box. Maybe you'd do better with one of these? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-nHCW0eg0E Watch it all the way through...it's worth watching even if it isn't what you want. I'm not wanting versatility, just chimey full cleans (ac30) and singing smooth overdr...

Re: ,......
$2K IS a lot of money for sure. So is $1K! Let's face it, tube amps are expensive and the decision to buy based on clips is risky at best. I haven't heard any of Nik's amps, but I have heard a REAL Dumble or two, built many Dumble clones, heard most (if not all) D'Lite variants, and a built few Tra...

Re: ,......
I know that $2000 seems like a lot of money for an amp but in reality it is not for a custom hand built amp like the D'Lite. The Ceriatone is cheaper but I am not sure if it is superior. I've played a ODS just never built one and they are very versitile amps. Also if you go around buying a lot of a...

Re: ,......
If you're judging tones based on YouTube clips, uh, I'd say you need to rethink that strategy. Based on what you said you are looking for, I would also recommend a D'Lite kit. You described what you want. Multiple people suggested a D'Lite. Nobody suggested a 'Wreck. Yet you are pursuing a 'Wreck-s...

Re: ,......
+1 on the Brown Note D'Lite. There is no way I'm paying 2k for an amp. Ceriatone's OTS is around $1400 shipped, which is still expensive. Besides, I've heard the ceriatone sound better on Youtube (compressed) than the sound clips Brown Note had on their website. Right now I'm leaning towards a Rock...

Re: ,......
IMHO, your description of what you want is not describing a Trainwreck. I don't have personal experience with the other two circuits, but looking a the schematics, I don't think either of those will do it either. I'm sure others who know better than me will chime in. I don't think lots of gain and ...
