Re: BF Skirted Knobs

Yes, Boogie knobs.
I found a half-dozen once on the roof of a bldg we worked on. No telling why someone tossed those up there. Used 'em up on builds/repairs. Don't tell they're worth gold now too. :-/

Re: re-capped fender twin silverface and modded to blackface

If an amp’s been kept in a Seattle carport for years and then goes to Arizona to for a while why doesn’t the board dry out, and why doesn’t the hair drier trick work well? Does moisture permanently alter the board making it forever conductive? Some form of corrosion or oxidation of whatever is mixe...

Re: re-capped fender twin silverface and modded to blackface

I recently fixed a guy's noisy black Fender by simply sliding a rectangular sheet of polyethylene between the two partly conductive boards. Needed re-insulation of the forty years of dirt and rust, esp. near the steel-legged trem bug area.

Me too. Dug this guy since the 1st LP.

But how about McCartney on Penny Lane or With A Little Help....great stuff.

[and who's the awesome guy on 'Turn Down Day' by The Cyrkle. I think I've wanted to shake his hand since I 1st heard that in the car in '66.]

Re: NW Garage Bands

My Dad was a Navy aviator, so we lived everywhere, including Whidbey Island, WA in '63—'65. For one thin dollar we'd hear many of these bands on Fridays. Fun memories of gtrs, drums, Hammonds & Leslies echoing around the roller rink. https://i.imgur.com/Pu3SOmm.jpg [PS, definitive site here http://p...

Re: Grrrrrrr...My Electronics Surplus Store is Gone.

I dug that San Diego store [when I lived there 20 yrs. ago, wow time flies].
Even then you had to wonder how long they could go on.

Surprised to find there's a limited selection but similar place here in Monterey/Seaside. Probably won't last either.

Re: Bell Carillon 35

I wrapped some old shelf wood around one, made it into a 1-10 combo. Very useful. I've been taking it to gigs every weekend lately because it's loud yet fits well into the trunk. It sounded pretty decent as-is but I ultimately ended up rewiring it into a simple black Fender style two preamp tube con...

Dead stock SF Twin Reverb.. only one change; an ice cube.

No shit. Rock.
I wouldn't be surprised.

Re: Burning Hot deluxe transformer

I've owned a bunch of DRs, one got warm like yours. Voltages were always good though. [yes, 5 secs. isn't that abnormal]
I installed a fan anyway. Bet that thing is still running good somewhere.
