Re: Power Trans Question
Yes I think I'll try it. Like you say I may end up using 6V6s'. Really not much to loose using a no cost donor amp and a few parts.

Re: Power Trans Question
Thanks for the replies. The 317 is no load, at the rectifier. I am somewhat dissapointed as the schem indicated 360. Might have to build something else.

Power Trans Question
I'd like to try one of these 5b6 amps for grins.
I got ahold of a donor amp. Schematic indicated 36-0-360 volts, a touch high but thought I'd try it.
The tranny actually measures 317-0-317 volts.
This is quite abit lower than indicated.,
Do I dare try this build with this transformer?

Re: Mesa Maverick problem
A quick lunch time reply. Thank You so much for the info. I do want to get better at this. Tonight I'll have the whole evening to devote to this amp. I'm not a member of the Mesa forum so I couldn't use the search function, I can do that this evening. I'll also check the things you've suggested. The...

Re: Mesa Maverick problem
Thanks for the reply.
It does have a FX loop and I have done that.
Don't know why the grid resistor went, just one of them on one of the power tubes. I've subbed in known good power tubes to no avail.
Output tranny?

Mesa Maverick problem
Hi all, A friend of mine has a Maverick that "just quit" one night. Actually didn't quit but lost a lot of power and is distorted. I opened it up and found a grid resistor that was about burnt in half. I replace that but no change in symptoms. The voltages are in line with the schematic, I touched u...

Re: power transformer
Never thought about the chassis being a heat sink, that does make sense. FWIT the tranny came with the kit. Thanks

power transformer
For whatever reason I can't log on to the Brown Note Forum so I'll ask here. What is the reason for removing the bell on a power trans and mounting it flush to the chassis? I've got a few amps laying around, some are this way and some have the nuts holding the bell in place and then mounted to...

Re: First clips of the DumbleLite
Well after listening to both sets of clips (different transformers) I'm thinking I prefer yours Norm. More of the Robben tone that I like in my opinion. I'd be up for a kit as well. Not being an experienced amp builder yet there are always questions. I have built a couple of SE amps and an 18 watt l...
