OK, I disconnected my red leads from the rectifier diodes and got 300+ volts from them. So that ois good. I reconnected them to the diodes and disconnected the lead from the cathode end of the diodes and got 600+volts. I got 600 to the standby switch and to the other side of the switch but tghen whe...

Hey all, OI finished my A1a build and have some serious problems with it. First I fired it up and I had 2 of the filter caps backwards so I kept blowing fuses.Now I have that straightened out and the tubes light up but I get no sound. I checked for voltages and I'm only getting 3.2 on the pins where...

Well, had a backwards filter cap and after I turned that around the tubes light up but no sound. I am not getting any readings from the tubes except for 3.2 on the pins that are connected to the trannies. With the Hammond PT am I supposed to ground the center tap for the rectifier diodes?? Blowin fuses
hey all, fired up my A1a build and it blows fuses right away. No tubes in it. I just wanted to check voltages.

Hi Jeff, what brand of Trannies did you use for the EF86 amp?? It sounds really nice. I think it would sound really nice with my LP Deluxe and I would love to build one. I have a 18 watt clone built but have never fired it up due to the rectifier decision I have to make. Not sure what I wouldlike to...

Thanks for the great pics~!! They sure do answer a lot of questions for me. It is nice to see pics of the amp. It helps me get a grip on where components are placed how they connect them etc. etc. These will help a great deal for years to come~!! This looks a lot different than the oldpics of the Ex...
