Re: Higher voltage for Rocket?

Steve, I don't hear a whole lot of difference between the voltage settings and I do not plan to incorporate that function in anymore amps. I had to at least try it. I actually build two different amps. One with voltage switching and 18w/36w switching. The other was the new Zwreck type amp with the ...

Re: Speaker for Rocket

Funny, I've had that thought myself... https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=6159 ...My original Rocket uses a special wound 5.2K Heyboer Liverpool tranny and it has a little extra bottom end as well... I have nick named her the "Fat Bottom Girl" because of the obvious connection to the AC-30.....

Re: Speaker magnet covers

Aw man, I was just out in the Costa Mesa, San Juan Capistrano area a couple of weeks ago. I was visiting family after Christmas, and I wanted to get over to Tone Merchants and a few other places of musical interest. Didn't get it done. I'm going to be in San Diego in early April. I might make my tri...

Re: what is the tweaker kit in the BOM for the Rocket?

I made sure I picked up all of the various "mod" parts before I built my Rocket. I haven't even thought about tweaking it though. I've been way too busy playing it  It's an awesome amp, that I wouldn't even consider modding, at least until you've played it a while and got well "acquainted"....

Re: Looking for TW info

Droge1 The "why don't you try the search function" response is what I've seen so many times in the Dumble section of this forum. Turned me off to that section, to be honest. Especially since there is very little organization over there. The Trainwreck part of this forum has always been generous and ...

Here's a link for a true bypass looper. I don't know if that is what you are looking for though.

Re: 18 watt comunity

No big loss as far as I am concerned ZP only harassed me with each of my posts anyway. Your either welcomed and liked or harassed at that forum. Mark You are being kind Mark. That guy is a tool bag. It was almost comical to watch him attack anyone with technical knowledge. He absolutely could not a...

Re: Speaker for Rocket

There have been several threads on speakers for the Rocket. It is much like an AC30 but with an awesome low end. I'm thinking of naming mine "Fat Bottom Girl". Brian May could have used one on that Queen song. Serious, like the AC30, the Rocket sounds great with Celestion Blues, or Golds. My favorit...

Re: Great Tweed Tone

I've bought some trannies from Allen Amps for a couple of tweed builds. I think they are Heyboers built to his specs. I've purchased his "beefed up" OT's. I may some day replace the OT on my Deluxe. I've heard that it definitely helps with the loose low end. However, I've kind of come to embrace the...

. I couldn't agree more... I'll probably go stock to begin with. Thnx, Jim[/quote] Jim, I built Bruce Collins Mission Amp 5e3 as my first amp. His suggestion was to build the amp stock and get to know it for it awhile. After you're well acquainted, then you can start modding. It was good advice. I'...

Re: Great Tweed Tone

Greg V does some awesome demos. No matter what he's playing, his Youtube recordings are some of the best. He has a second demo with this amp and an SG. I noted he said the amp had a GZ34 rectifier. In the vid you can see the Weber copper "rectifier". He also said that the builder voiced the normal a...

Re: Americans and tonebenders

How are you guys using your Rangemasters? I have one with a four way switch that switches different caps to select boost range. It's a Toneman rangemaster. I don't like it at all with any of my fender amps. It sounds very good with my 18 watt and AC15, but only if they are cranked. It sounds like as...

Re: First amp build quick question.

I built a Mission 5e3 as my first amp. It was a great experience, that led to more amps. Haven't built a Dumbell yet though. Bruce Collins is a classy guy to deal with and his documentation for the 5e3 will lead you through the build even if you have no prior experience (I didn't). One email exchang...
