Re: To recap or not to recap?
I got this one from the "ebay dumpster", many times the same thing. It supposedly came from a retired tech's shop. He probably played it only on Sunday afternoons, with a tiny nip of sherry, etc... Surprising, it has an all plywood cabinet (albeit, thin) inclucing the baffle and rear panel. True poi...

Re: To recap or not to recap?
Thanks for the advice, all. The last time I looked inside the chassis, every thing looked pretty much original, including the cap can. All the tubes are branded "Multivox" except the preamp, which is a Sylvania. I'll try hooking the amp up to another speaker (yes, the 18wt is using a G12H at 100db s...

To recap or not to recap?
Hello all. I need some advice on what to do with an older amp, a Premier Multivox (I don't know the model, but the schem is listed on schematicheaven.com under Bargin Bin Amps, Premier-Multivox, model guitar? 1967). The amp sounds pretty good but from what I gather, should be putting out a healthy 1...

Re: DIY AIR BRAKE WITHOUT THE RHEOSTAT?
Actually, I didn't measure the impedance of each tap, per se. I just lightly tighted the screws and measured for continuity at every point I soldered, especially from the input to output positives. Someone else will have to chime in about reading the ohms for each tap point. Did you measure from eac...

Re: DIY AIR BRAKE WITHOUT THE RHEOSTAT?
Thanks for the reassurance, dehughes, thats what I thought. I too, was a little confused about the numbering sequence on the switch. Looking at the back of it, the numbers started from 12 moving clockwise. So I just kept the wiring in order starting with 12 and so on. My pin 7 is the schem's 6, etc....

Re: DIY AIR BRAKE WITHOUT THE RHEOSTAT?
In either schematic, nothing is wired to the 6th pin on the Lorlin switch?

Re: DIY AIR BRAKE WITHOUT THE RHEOSTAT?
My parts for the lite Brake came in from Mouser a little while ago on the FedEX truck. And now it hits me, how do you mount the resistors? And then something in the back of my mind says, yeah they were talking about that earlier in the thread. I guess I assumed the resistors came with brackets. Can ...

Re: DIY AIR BRAKE WITHOUT THE RHEOSTAT?
Yes, thanks for clearing up that wire gauge question, MHuss. JoeyE, I like that graphic you posted earlier. How did you arrive at the attenuation levels by 2 at each step? Also, does anyone know of some down loadable graphics of this sort floating around on the web? (of course I could always "borrow...

Re: DIY AIR BRAKE WITHOUT THE RHEOSTAT?
Back to the wire question, what about 20 AWG solid core PTFE? That's all I've got on hand. I do have some low quality 18 AWG solid core but its just standard plastic insulated (and melts like crazy with too much soldering gun heat!)
