Re: #102 Layout (update)
Hi Tony, At the time #102 was revealed one of the actual insider said: "Resistor feeding from the .005 OD2 cap is 150K and not 180K". Also Brandon from Bludotone: "100K Feeding Drive pot, 150K feeding Ratio Pot" Is this your personal observation or from someone who has been there? Erwin Hello Erwin...

Re: #102 Layout (update)
Thank you Tony. Can I have some background on why this change has been made? I'm on the #124 build and I would love to learn more I can't say for certain why Dumble did it on Robbens amp? I have heard of him using it in other non-HRM's? but if I had to guess it was more than likely a specific tone ...

#102 Layout (update)
Here is my updated layout of 102 which has one change? 180k replaces the 150k OD master attenuation resistor. The sonic impact this has on the amps response could include 1. A slightly darker(smoother) top end 2.A slight drop in volume requiring higher OD volume setting These being the most obvious?...

Hello Guy :D Good to be back with you guys here. Sounds more Marshall/Bluesmaster esque to me (Scooped mids) givin the amps settings. Maybe CW can opine? Tony I have learned a few things recently so yes; I can respond to this. First of all, we need to differentiate between "power amp" and "power su...

Re: Low Plate Classic Upgraded
Looks beautiful Tony. Congrats! Low plates are always my favorite sound as well. I really like those large green resistors for the cathodes, I have never seen those for sale before. Cheers Guy Thanks Guy! I picked those up a few years back when I actually 1st built the amp. I had no idea they were ...

Low Plate Classic Upgraded
Hello all! Here is my personal low plate classic that was just recently upgraded. The amp was lost in the middle of a divorce and was stored in what looked to be an unconditioned barn  . The upgrade consisted of `1. RGU/59 Tandy coax 2. Draloric 70's (west Germany) w/ a few Q-lines resistors (...

Re: New 102 build: Relay transformer up in smoke
Yes you do not want to ever ground the CT. when using a FWBR.. The ground refrence is already being reflected back at the tail of the rectifiers diodes.
Your lucky it lasted that long

Re: Tim Pierce and ODS #178
Oh BTW..Carlton used the Sovtek's  The Winged C's will also handle the 700. (IMO Wing C's a better sounding tube but mo expensive) Larry Carlton uses Sovtek 5881's and JJ ECC83s fwiw- Robbens amps had JJ preamps, one had the 5881 output tubes, one had either Svetlana's (Reflektor prod.) or win...

Re: Tim Pierce and ODS #178
Here are 2 separate 700V power supplies from 2 different amps
One being The Tan Ultrasound MM/ Bruno super 100 (clone)
the other one is ODS019X. ( IIRC)
WARNING! For the newbies out there this amp will kill you if you don't know what you are doing!

Re: Robben Ford & His Dumble Overdrive Special
That's good background info, thanks. Your layouts have been the go-to references over the years, and the differences revealed in this 102 gut shot don't really matter, unless one is going for an exact copy. In fact a lot of the questions that have been coming up lately are related to translating to...

Re: Tim Pierce and ODS #178
Tony, great to see you posting again! It looks like this amp only has 3 noval tubes. Is this the musicman power supply without the driver tube? Or maybe a 4th tube is located more towards the front of the chassis. Also curious HAD was calling the bluesmaster preamp "Ultra-Phonix". I thought Ultra-P...
