Passive TRS wiring schema
I posted this on TGP but there were no responses ... I thought I give it a shot here before I gave up on it being a reasonable inquiry for a newbie: I have DMC-6D midi foot controller with a TRS jack for a built-in relay (for triggering latching switches) that toggles on/off selectively the tip and ...

Re: Possible 4x12 incarnations
Max have you seen or have you been inside a Dumble 4x12 like the one that was at Maverick Music? Yes. AFAIK there is a Center Baffle inside dividing the top and bottom half of the 4x12 seperating the (2) pairs of 2x12's…There is a convertable back baffle to that gives the ability to open the top or...

Re: Possible 4x12 incarnations
...like the Dumble 412 on eBay. Just to avoid misunderstandings: AFAIK the 4 x 12" Dumble cabinet that was on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=200709367165&nma=true&rt=nc&si=AfjIpKHO3tNh%252B72x5eB08RnMewE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc doesn't have two ...

Re: Possible 4x12 incarnations
It's a great idea if done right. Boogie made a 2X12 and a 4X12 in the 80's that was slanted with the top cab open back and the bottom sealed and ported. I invite anyone to go try one if you can. They made two versions, one with a Black Shadow (Celestion) on top and a Celestion on the bottom and ano...

Re: Possible 4x12 incarnations
I have received a lot of requests and interest in these half open half closed 412s. I don't know if it was the Dumble 412 that popped up on eBay a few months ago or the cabs Bonamassa plays on stage? I've got a design drawn up...I'll be building a few of these in the next few weeks once the proto t...

Re: 1X12 cab dimensions for G1265
Yeah I don't think it matters that much, those dimensions are from my own personal experience, not from the Dumble catalog. Remember, once you open the back the cabinet isn't as sensitive to changes. I just know with the dimensions I use my cabs sound awesome so I'm going to keep using them. I like...

Re: 1X12 cab dimensions for G1265
Then there is this thread: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=5943&highlight=oval When I evaluate the 9x11.5 oval dimension offered for a 1x12, I get about 86 square inches for the port. When I use the calc for the area of a 12" speaker using 10.5 cone size, I get about 86 square inches ... ...

Re: 1X12 cab dimensions for G1265
Hey thanks for the quick reply ... "the bottom section has interior dimensions of 22w x 11h x 13d" -- so the oval port for this portion of the 2x12 would be 11 x 3.625 (or 7.375 x 5.5) -- does the 13" depth make a difference in this size that you can articulate? The calculations I estimate with usu...

Re: 1X12 cab dimensions for G1265
I think you can probably formulate an equation to figure out the 'best size' mathematically, but I've found that through trial and error the ports I like best are approx 1/2 the cabinets overall width by about 1/3 the cabinets height (or shortest dimension)...this is with 1x12 cabinets. I just clon...

Re: 1X12 cab dimensions for G1265
A few of you guys have asked, I am happy to share some of the designs that i do... For example, some of the 1x12 cabs that I do are 17" tall, and I can adjust the width from around 21-24" and they rock!! The best thing to do is just scale the port to the cab width. So for my 24"x17" cab, the port I...

Re: Hum on a Fender Champ 12
It could probably be improved with more power supply filtering and a choke, but that would also change the sound and "feel" of the amp. D Thanks, I decided to keep it for the weekend and give it a chance since it was arguably better than when I took it in. However, today, I was playing it and the b...

Hum on a Fender Champ 12
I just got an old Champ 12 that supposedly came with MM iron (w/ Nos.: 1-02403 and 51A606-711 that I saw when I looked into the chassis) and a Celestion Greenback -- it had a hum and I took it into get some Sozos, etc. expecting that this would fix the hum. What I really liked about the amp was that...

Re: Stupid questions for beginners!
Yes it stands for Hot Rubber Monkey. What it is, it adds trimmer controls for your treble, mid, bass on the overdrive section to fine tune those controls. Wow -- that's nice -- I am about to have the gain stage of my Princeton Reverb II modded by Don Butler out here in LA -- he's on vacation in the...
