Re: Is that you, Bill?

"the lockard amp is $2800 because the cost is over $2000. it's clearly a labor of love, and an expensive one. it's hand made USA labor, and it's top notch construction by an insanely high end amp builder." Pretty costly amp, see if this one works for anyone :D :?: Hand crafted both cabinet and tube ...

6SN7 preamp tube follies

This uses a 6SN7 preamp with 82K ohm load resistors in a cathode follower config into a Phase inverter 6SL7 cathodyne with 6V6 power tubes and a 5Y3 rectifier. I use a 6J7 (pentode) that goes into the 6SN7 then a preamp volume pot into a single tone pot into a volume knob that is before the PI. http...

9pin needs to be grounded, maybe, maybe not

"Someone I know has done some extensive experimentation and based on this, always ground pin 9 of a 6n2p as static charge can build up on the internal shield and cause the valve to act faulty until grounded, don't worry as much for a 6n2p-ev" This is from another post referring to Pin 9 on the socke...

12A_7/Russian 6N2PEV Heater Wiring-Switching Between Both

Today I am building a Fender AB763 circuit with some preamp options. One option will use an EF86 tube on one channel, another option is to be able to use two different types of tubes on the same socket, but with different heater wiring configurations. I want to be able to use a 12AX7 tube with the t...

Amp design

TweedDeluxe, would you have any pdf file of your amp setup? I have been drawing up my schematics in autocad. this amp has a bunch of octal tube sockets, so I am taking my time in figuring out what direction I want to go...maybe your design can give me some ideas...anyway these tubes are addicting.. ...

Re: Bogen J330 Output Transformer T261

yep, figured that out, just that the resistor is so huge, compared to the ones I worked with on my Traynor YGM4 and Fender Deluxe I rebuilt/built...onward.

Determined Lugs for transformer

Last night after looking at this one more time, I realized that the center tap is number 10 lug on the transformer. This amp is in really great shape. I took off all the PA wiring, resistors, caps, and will layout for the amp this week. There is so much info out there to digest and since this will b...

Bogen J330 Output Transformer T261

 Greetings  I have a nice Bogen 6L6 octal tube amp that is a J330 which I will use to build an octal based amp. I am leaning towards a bassman type design or layout but using 6SL7's and those 5691's I have. I know about the 6SL7's tendencies to be microphonic, but I am not too worried. My ...
