Re: NASA guides for soldering.

Dunno if this helps: http://blog.modernmechanix.com/kerosene-lamp-powers-radio/ Dave Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I have been reading here for over 20 years and I want to tell you that this place is fabulous! My problem is a scratchy noise that I have searched for ever since I bought ...

Re: Oddball Preamp Circuit?

As I'm seeing it, the grid return for V2b is going to the top of the cathode resistor of V2a, rather than ground. This does two things - it lifts it up above ground for DC, perhaps explaining the larger than normal V2b cathode bias resistor, and it also puts a signal on the bottom of the V2b grid re...

Re: Is there a good wrench for Fender-style jewel lamp holders??

That's just the thing! I wonder why it isn't more universally offered - what a knuckle saver! Dave Bruce from Mission amps seems to have just the thing: http://www.missionamps.com/hardware.shtml I probably should pick up one of these, too--- I've always used small channel locks and a hammer/drift. I...

Is there a good wrench for Fender-style jewel lamp holders??

Hello all, I have built a few amps and used a "Fender-style" jewel lamp holder on most of them. One thing I have struggled with is how to easily and effectively tighten the holder into the chassis. The nut that comes with the holder assembly is large in diameter but fairly thin and it ends up being ...
