Re: Which one of Magnetic component I can swap with Ceriatone OT

There are holes in the chassis for a separate 12volt (relay) transformer. But a bit of work to install it. I have had a Ceriatone power transformer blow. So I'm not a fan of these. But I would not change it unless it is bad. DC voltage is a DC voltage no tone there. Correct me if I'm wrong but a cho...

Re: Which one of Magnetic component I can swap with Ceriatone OT

I changed the output to a Magnetics Components 40-18013 (100 watt) from Triode Electronics. There are heaps of holes around there on the chassis to line it up with. Not sure if I would worry about the choke. Looks like there are 2 types of 50 watt, 40-18009 and 40-18001 both 4/8/16 ohm not sure what...

One question about the snubber values, they are rely low. Raw sounding amp? similar to no snubbers?

Sorry for my ignorance is this a pro players amp with commercially released recordings?

Re: Ceriatone 183 and Ford Amp

Nik post layouts on his site, and supplies various levels of kits, I guess making no secret of their source. He responds to emails and sales enquires. His business is based in SE Asia. Making shipping cheaper/quicker to places that are not the US. Fixing one of his amps was allot easier than one by ...

Re: Fuse blowing problems.

Sorry for the panic. All sorted just a Bad tube. I put a 500ma fuse in when testing the no tube situation. Took a deep breath and worked slowly and all was revealed. Winged C, first major failure of these. I've been using them for 10 years. Not sure which of the quad failed but any suggestion on dif...

Re: Fuse blowing problems.

thanks for the replies Yes 4 tubes. Running 35ma a tube.I converted it over. Tried pulling the 2 outside tubes as they were the ones with the most recent work(50-100watt). But after 6 months of being thrown around, I thought a problem would have shown up earlier. I'm careful with my work. I then pul...

Re: Fuse blowing problems.

Just to add
it's blowing the fuse ht with no valves. Heaters light up with valves on stand-by.
The HT is from the center tap of the B+.

What would be the way to start checking?
disconnect the B+? I'm suspecting another power transformer...... :(
or power supply?

Fuse blowing problems.

Hi Guys I know this is more about building but could I get some tech advice. I'm a player and built this thing but I'm lacking some fundamental tech problem solving skills. Amp is a Ceriatone Started life as a 50watt. Since I have replaced the power transformer with a new 100watt ceriatone one. The ...

Re: Original Dumble amps on record

Ever heard of Miles Davis? An average music listener has heard of Santana, Miles, Steely Dan,Slash, Hendrix, Even John Mayer. But well know in Guitar circles is different from this. In Australia Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Bill Frisell, Eric Johnson, Mark Ribot would be lucky to fill 1000 seat venu...

I think a clam and a clamp are a similar thing. One when you hand goes to the wrong place and the other when It stays where it is..................

Re: Robben Ford is human :-)...and makis a clamp at 0:46

If a player doesn't make a clam is he/she really trying to stretch out? come on.... I have a live recording from around 1997 or so lots of them in there, but a fantastic gig. It was what impressed me about his playing, on record it's just too bland for me, live with a couple of clams...well there is...
