Re: Marshall treble pot

Are you sure the pot is bad? You could have a leaky coupling cap in the treble circuit. DC leakage from coupling cap causes scratchy pot.

Re: Poor man´s VVR, will it work like this?

You could us a 2 pole waffer switch and use the second pole to select bias resistors or pots. The wafer switch contacts will have to be able to handle the power also. Another solution would be to use 2 paralleled power fets for VVR circuit.

Re: presence squeal in express (was: low end oscillation)

Some preamp tubes are more prone to oscillate without a grid stopper than others. Try different tubes in V1 if you choose not to use the grid stopper.

A Rocket is what I was thinking about.

The fenders I built are 2 tweed deluxe's, 2- bf deluxe's, 2 bf super reverbs, and a bf vibraverb. Their are 2 guitar players in my band so I build 2 of most everthing. I got the building bug bad lol.

What Trainwreck to build?

It seems from looking on Youtube that the Express is the most popular. I have built 4 marshall's , 7 fender's , 2 messa dual rectifiers , Ampeg reverberocket , Dumble ODS. Kind of like to have a Trainwreck that's different than those. What are the differences in tone between the different Trainwreck...

Re: turret

Make sure they are not aluminum eyelet. Brass or unpainted tin will work. I use the brass ones from a sowing supply store. The ones used to make women belts. They are a little large and take a lot of solder but work great for old fender type complexity circuits.

Re: Where to get circuit board meterial?

This Garolite is a plastic. Wouldn't it be better to use fiberglass? I am thinking about making my own using fiberglass resin and fiberglass cloth sandwished between 2 pieces of glass with pennys around the edges to control the thickness. It would be very inexpensive. Then use brass eyelets like use...

Where to get circuit board meterial?

Where is the best place to get circuit board material? FR-4 without any copper clad to use with eyelets and binding post? Fish paper like used with old fender amps?

Re: Power Supply Question

I have tried disconnecting the cathodes before and that didn't work. The tubes still conduct somewhat through the screens and grids to the plates.

Re: Newbie question - how can I test output tranny polarity?

What is important is that both speakers polarity be the same. You don't one sucking while the other it pushing. If the speakers aren't marked with a red dot or something , you can use a 1.5 volt battery to test them to find what polarity pushes. That will be the positive of the speaker hooked to pos...
