Re: DC30 gutshots?

Absolutely- the first one has way too many film resistors. No mojo in those. No mojo at all, I'm afraid.

Re: Clapton + Marshall = The Tone... that Dumble (re)Created

It's one of my favorites, too. Clapton and Winwood both solo on that number, with the latter playing the main thematic lick, and each has a different outfit. I always thought Clapton used his "Blues Breaker" combo in the studio but this time it sounds pretty Fenderish, and Stevie's amp sounds the na...

Re: Clapton + Marshall = The Tone... that Dumble (re)Created

I think I've found the secret on his website: "We first analysed Eric's vintage [tweed Twin] amp to the specs then we searched for old parts. After all that, it still didn't sound right. At that point, John Page suggested old pine wood. We found some that came from an old church's floor and that mad...

Re: D'Lite Versions

I think that OT might be ok for 6v6 tubes but not for 6L6. 6L6GC's output around 45-50 watts in this amp. I'm thinking 6L6-WPLJ or whatever is like a 5881, or a 5881. But four output tubes would be worth trying out with the DeVille OT too- seems like it would sound big . Yes, I use the high plate l...

Re: so how did I do?

It's funny, you know. I was just thinking... at some far future stardate, there shall be numerous interweb forums dedicated to discovering the secrets of the "Amp Garage Group" and our designs. Don't you think so? I mean, won't it be funny when they are "cloning" my amps and arguing about how to rep...

Re: D'Lite Versions

Never found a use for that Stancor!?!? Ever heard of Trainwreck??? That's where it belongs, not in a D'Lite!!! You guys have been trying to get me to building a Trainwreck ever since I registered for this forum! For your information, every amp I've ever built was a trainwreck!! No, wait- my first 1...

Re: D'Lite Versions

Tom Well, things are getting back to normal now after losing my server once and the electricity twice (using the last bit of charge on the wireless soldering iron sharpens the skills some :P ) but I've had a little time to review your last message! I can't thank you enough for setting me on my wheel...

Re: D'Lite Versions

Tom Thanks much for the info! I guess I lost track of things when the relays (of which I know nothing) were introduced. The version shown above would be 6L6s driving a Vibrolux OT, right? The boards for my planned amp, I think, were populated like the one marked "final" in the address. I just want t...

D'Lite Versions

Hi, Gang! Hey, I've been trying to get myself up-to-date and I've run into some confusion that maybe someone can help me out with. Concerns the variations in the Dumble'Lite layouts I'm seeing. http://bad-domain/DumbleLite/DumbleLite16x8Layout.JPG and http://bad-domain/DumbleLite/D-Lite%20Layout.jpg...

Re: SG System & 8417s

I've begun to wonder if, in case I can't get it working as an SG, the xfmrs would be good candidates for donor iron- for a serious bass amp. Those things are massive.

Re: SG System & 8417s

Thank you Andy :D That seems to be the one, alright. I happened to have some Sylvania 8417s (which is what prompted me to get this amp) that I understand to be pretty good, on the whole. Are you saying there are problems with re-wiring the sockets for KT88s etc.? Anything specific that I should be w...

SG System & 8417s

Hi All Got a problem I hope you guys can help me with. You can if anyone can. I recently acquired an SG-215 amp (at least that's what it says on the back panel) and I can't find a schematic for it. Gibson sent me a couple of drawings, neither of which represents the actual circuit lying on my bench....

Re: Built One for Myself

Just finishing up a modified 5E7 tweed Bandmaster, with cathode bias pretty much to Class A. V1 & V3 are 12AY7s, 150V B+, V4 12AX7 (PI), 330V B+, pair of KT66s about 350V plate. Rectifier (V7) is a 5U4GB Oversized iron for cleaner bass and more of it. Kept the cathodyne PI. Hope to get about 25W ou...

OK, yes, I see it. You have cleverly concealed it in the first sentence of your original note  and just about every sentence after that. :?
