Vintage Orange Drop Capacitor Quality
I am not an electronic Engineer, but I observed something strange, and wonder if anyone here may know better. I'm building a vibroverb from scratch, and took some time to slowly gather NOS components (caps, resistors, pots..etc) if I could find them relatively cheap. I check for outer foil and inner...

Re: inverting guitar phase with an Op-amp
Your present circuit is creating a +/- 4.5V bipolar supply (relative to ground) by use of the 10k/10k voltage divider and gives you a DC coupled amp. This design does not require, nor will benefit from input or output coupling amps unless you want to introduce low frequency poles, i.e., high pass f...

Re: inverting guitar phase with an Op-amp
What would you recommend? I did this pedal on a whim buying parts at radioshack. All they had was a TL082. I built in a socket so I can easily swap out.Structo wrote:The only other thing is maybe a better opamp.
There are higher fidelity units.

Re: inverting guitar phase with an Op-amp
Yeah you would benefit from a few changes. Input and output coupling caps are usually a good idea, especially because you don't need to carry over the 1/2 supply offset from this design (and in your case don't want to). Aside from 0.1uF and 10uF caps decoupling the op amp itself, the rest is probab...

inverting guitar phase with an Op-amp
Hey there, I ran into some issues using my EP3 echoplex into the second input of my Marshall since I found it flips the phase of the signal 180. Normally never an issue, but because I split the signal to input one and then to the EP3 then input 2, there tends to be phase cancellation. Sooo... I buil...

Re: Do any of you use the D type amp/speakers for non-jazz?
...If I'm reading you right you would think amps like #124 could be considered Modified Fender's. Which is probably true but Vive le difference! Not quite, you had quite the list. No master, big bypass caps, very low PI input cap...etc. At some point we would be splitting hairs since dumble's origi...

Re: Do any of you use the D type amp/speakers for non-jazz?
Bascially - non-master, non-HRM with reverb, low plates on V1, .02 mid cap, larger bypass caps and smaller coupling caps - especially the PI entrance (.005). I do love the sound of your amps... but doesn't these changes really take the amp far closer to a slightly modified fender topology then a mo...

Re: What Brand Capacitor is This?
kind of a long story. An amp builder used this brand cap in this ONE spot only. And it just raised questions on why. No biggie here, I just want to know so I can do some of my own experiments.

Re: What Brand Capacitor is This?
yeah, i'm aware of that photo...but I can't tell if the ends are white...
...also, the text on the cap looks to be too thin compared to my photo.

Re: What Brand Capacitor is This?
Thats all I have... I know its not much, but I only have a photo.
But its not mallor or sozo because you can tell one side of the cap is white. I don't know what color Jupitor caps ends are, but the letters seem bigger and bolder then anything on Jupitor caps...
hmm.... the investigation continues.

Why are the tubes in all amp layouts in the back of the amp?
Hey there. First post, long time "lurker"... I'm designing a layout for an amp, and want to place the preamp tubes between the board and the controls. Is there anything I might be missing here? I want really short leads, which is the reason for the tube placement, and am concerned that there might b...
