Re: Creating the 30 deg angle for a Fender princton Rev chassis
I can't quite picture what you need to do but I'll take a stab at it. In general, it is better to work with the piece than to go by calculated measurements. Get a bevel gauge. If you don't have one, the cheap Harbor Freight one is adequate. Use this to find the 30 degree angle from the chassis. It m...

This has saved me a lot of trouble. I would like to give credit but no longer remember who gave it to me. It's got a 2007 date stamp.

Re: Anticipating chassis flex - multiple heavy transformers
Interesting discussion... I suppose it comes down to individual skills and preferences. Certainly, if the thicker aluminum is available, that's the easiest and most straight forward thing to get, particularly if you don't have skills, tools and equipment, readily available materials, or simply no de...

Check Mattias Wandel on YT: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=matthias+wandel+oscilloscope and especially this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd_mHf-cwIA&t=479s Whether you are interested in these two scopes isn't that important. I think he does a good job of showing you what to con...

If the schematic is accurate, there is a voltage divider using a 2.2m resistor. Adjust the voltage divider to bleed off move voltage.

Re: Is it a dumb idea to work on my amp?
On the basic question, DIY or take it to a pro, I'm on the fence. The amp is a valuable classic in what appears to be 100% original condition. If I were to take it to someone, I'd want to know they have the right kind of experience that respects the originality of the amp. Technical skills are not e...

Re: HT voltages for 12L6
It is my recollection that Merlin withdrew his power supplies book from publication due to several inaccuracies that surfaced and with no plans to put out a new edition. If my memory is correct on this point, I'm suggest it is not the definitive source for this topic. I'd be inclined to give weight ...

Re: Estimating covering yardage for an amp cabinet
Picture is worth... I think I should retract the 3 sides 1 piece approach. I was thinking Fender/Marshall style where you can wrap around continuously. If your cab looks like that when assembled and problems fixed, it is a 4 piece cover job and you'll want to start with oversized pieces. The only th...

Re: Estimating covering yardage for an amp cabinet
If I were doing this, I'd want to wrap the two sides and top with one single piece. Assuming 26 is the width (top) you need 21+26+21 = 69". The material is standard 54" wide, so you will need to buy two yards to get that one big cut. Use the full 72". You'll need the extra 3" so you can fully wrap t...

Now I have to figure out how to remove the cap and ground it to the correct place. Looks like I might just have to remove the turret board. Ugh. Dremel with a cutting wheel? Try to think out of the box. There's no set obligation to configure it the way it came to you -- I'm talking about the can ca...

Re: Tracking Down 120Hz Hum
Picture of the subject cap? I am thinking, it may be more expedient and less expensive for the customer to clip the cap (if you can,) and mount it in a different location. For example, use a radial cap with a clamp mounted to one of the vertical sides of the chassis. Then, see if you can clip and re...
