Hi Guys,
I really want to build an astroid. The original was the best amp I ever owned. I feel pretty comfortable wiring and soldering but making boards and punching a chassis may be a bit much.
Anybody make a chasis and board for this amp?
Thanks,
Paul

Interesting,
I changed it again and verified the change.
Sorry again for the trouble.

Wow,
I guess I've been gone longer than I thought. Sorry about that.
I just fixed the email.
I'd really like to see any schematics or layouts you have.
Thanks,
Paul

How different is a KF-50 from a K-60 type
Hi guys, It's been a while. I'm back at work which means I'm getting close to having dough for another build. I just can't figure out what to build. I LOVED my Komet K-60 but wanted voicing a little closer to Marshall and an amp that can handle pedals well. The k-60 is picky. I played a 1969 50 watt...

Bump,
The wife and kids are leaving in a few days. It might be my only opportunity to really give this a go....

Re: Killing the hash PO
Tom,
Have you thought of making a stethascope (sp) using a battery powered amp and a resistor tied to a chopstick? It's cool to help localize sound irregularities.
It's not as cool at finding carrier waves etc as a real scope but it can help...

Re: Ruby tubes reliability report
Just made an order for these tubes today. What do you guys thing of the following output tubes? JAN-Philips 6L6WGB (NOS) TAD 6L6WGC-STR Winged "C" (SED) 6L6GC Tung-Sol 6L6GC-STR The only pair of Winged C I tried had one fail shortly, not a large enough test to determine if this is a real problem or...

Has anyone tried the short bottle TAD's or Shuguangs which I think are the same?

Re: Ruby tubes reliability report
I got them becaue I read a really good review somewhere and was ordering a bassman opt. As I was going to start experimenting, I thought it would be better to do it on these than the NOS RCA's, just in case.... I'm past 6 months even though these these have less than ten hours on them. They sound pr...

Ruby tubes reliability report
Hi Guys,
I just had a set of Ruby tubes GLGGCMSTR go bad on me. They have about 10 hours on them. This is the second time I've had a set of Ruby's go bad. Not a big deal but I've only used them twice.
Anybody else have similar issues or is it just me?

Re: pt, output, and choke for a d'lite
They have one that is 2,4 ,8 . I think I would have preferred 4,8,16.
I think mine is 2 0r 4H @ 90 ma as well.
I noticed a similar change when I did the OD entrance mod. I'm not sure if it's actually brighter or just stiffer but it's surely different.

Re: pt, output, and choke for a d'lite
I got a bassman OT from Ruby. I heard it was what HD used. I got a standard Fender twin choke. The choke really enhanced the responsiveness of the amp and deepened the overall tone. Every lead tone was just on the edge of feedback, in a good way. When I swapped out the OT, the tone got much bassier,...

Re: How Important is the physical OT Placement, hum question
LOL, Well, I sort of did the OD entrance mod... I left the jumper under the board in place so I had it paralled with the 220K resistor. Removing it seemed to quiet things down a bunch. I had a problem with the lead channel being like 3X louder than the clean side with an insane amount of gain...
