Re: 65amps SoHo
Thanks, Structo, that is an Epi LP with SD '59s. The cabinet is one of those blue ampeg Jet reverb 1x12 combo amps that I gutted and rebuilt an 18w into, so whatever speakers SLM was using for their ampeg line a few years back, probably eminence. The relay I used does intermittently pop when the boo...

Re: 65amps SoHo
Here is how I lay mine out. The relay is on a little turret board of its own, and the resistors and caps, as you can see, are hung right off the pots to the switch poles. You could just as easily do the same with a DPDT manual switch.
Thanks for the compliment!

Hey, thanks for linking. I always enjoy hearing you play your stuff, of course, but fun to also hear the range of all the tones and playing styles in cover tunes!

Re: 65amps SoHo
Here is the bump circuit I've implemented on a few amps. It works very well. There are several threads on this on the Hoffman forum but for a novice like me they are somewhat esoteric and wandering. I wouldn't call any of the discussion esoteric, but wandering yes. That's because there were tons of ...

Re: new liverpool
Thanks! It looks like that cap is sitting right on the resistor in the photo, but they're spread apart about 1.5 inch, and when it's flipped over and sitting in the cabinet most of the heat probably rises away from it.

Re: new liverpool
Finally got it in the cabinet. Nothing fancy, just poplar, but it has some quilting that has a depth that doesn't really come through in the pictures very well.

Re: Anybody use 10's with their Liverpool?
Mine sounds good through my Allen Encore spkrs, 2X10 Webers, 1 alnico and 1 ceramic, and it does the controlled feedback thing very nice.
I'd really like to put it through 2x12 though. Maybe a greenback and a classic 30 together?

Re: PTP ?
Probably a good circuit to try it with, since it is so simple. I used a bunch of standoff terminals in my liverpool. They're very handy and look much better than terminal strip. I'd say anything like the power caps where the actual body of the component might be touching the chassis, you could use s...

Re: new liverpool
Heater hum is not an issue whatsoever. I've got some background hiss, which I guess should be expected in an amp with this much gain on tap, but no hum.
I'll post some in-cab pics when I get it done.

new liverpool
Hi, here's my attempt at a Liverpool, I know it's not a clone, but it sounds great. I like WWII aircraft nose art, so I chose that as the theme for this build. THe last time I did woodburning was probably 40 yrs ago. Too much fun!

12AX7 and EL84
If I'm building a Liverpool (not a clone, just following schematic, but using correct spec Heyboers) what are the favorite choices of current production 12AX7 and EL84 to run? What are you all running NOS, and who do I get them from? I've paid for NOS before from one vendor (I'll leave their name ou...
