Re: “De-CBSing” a ‘76 Fender Vibrolux Reverb, got some questions…
I have used the Sovtek 5881WXT in Fenders at 450V plate voltage as well as in Music man power amps at 700V plate voltage without issues. This tube can handle the 415V just fine.

Re: Hiwatt layout assistance: humming and oscillations after rework
Time to break out the sine wave generator and scope. If you don't have those, imo this is a good time to get them. Issues always pop up, these tools will help you to see what's up and where. Troubleshooting an amp over the internet is not always easy, but with these tools it becomes a breeze. Facebo...

Re: To choke or not to choke? (Express)
I tried a choke in an Express years ago. With the Choke, an Express feels more punchy, aggressive and clear. Its louder too. It takes it closer to a Marshall Plexi in feel. IMO its too hard and upfront for this circuit, but I am going off what I know an Express sounds like. With the 1K resistor, the...

Re: need help determining if I played a real dumble
Correct, I heard the amp at a NJ Amp Show, the owner was very nice. There was a Dumble modded Marshall plexi too. I loved that amp.

That's very very likely a black EL34 HRM 100W head. I heard that amp years ago in NJ and it was great sounding.

Re: My '63 Dumble-modded Princeton (?)
That Princeton looks legit. I have seen several of Dumble's modded Fenders, Marshalls etc. Sometimes, he would do very little, like here. Maybe he was asked to spruce it up slightly? The soldering looks like his work -very very few people solder like this- , as does the marking on the speaker. The p...

Re: Conductive boards again.
Mark, with 20-30VDC on the board, I can tell you that there is no saving this board. Its something i have tried several times....take board out, take all parts off, remove paraffin with heat gun/paper towels, acetone/brake cleaner clean off the residual mess, rebuild.... Then the same thing happened...

Re: There are 35 Dumble type pedals out there...
The second clip, Scott Lerner, is playing the pedal into an amp I made for him. The first 4.20 minutes he is playing the pedal into the clean side of the amp, later on, the pedal is switched off, and the Overdrive of the amp is engaged, first with Preampboost, and shortly after this is removed. The ...
