Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

It was my father in laws who was a very smart electronics guy and also a big guitar player, so I have no doubt he did this all himself to get some awesome custom OD tones. Designed his own amps, pedals, you name it.

The head is just standard looking bandmaster.

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

Hey hey Reel! Thanks for the insight, crazy what you guys can discern from some photos. It certainly validates what it sounded like when I got it running, not sure if you saw my post above that had my initial findings?

I am definitely leaving it in place as is for now and going to just enjoy it.

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

Yea, trying to get a factory BM head is going to easily be $1250-$2500 so not feasible. This was my father in laws, who I wasnt really close with, by wife has some attachment to it. Feels wrong to just sell it. Going to just enjoy it for what it is. I will need to get a recording setup in place to g...

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

Should be 27K, 27K, 4.7K, 27K but its currently 4.7K, 27K, 6.2K, Jumper — Do I put those back to factory values, or is it like that due to the removal of a tube and other mods that were made? LET IT BE! The jumper is because of the removal of the vibrato circuit. This is no longer a 1962 Blonde Ban...

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

Got it on the photos, I'll take some more. New question, in the power filter cap section, I'm noticing a 27K was removed and replaced with a jumper, and the other values are not factory. Should be 27K, 27K, 4.7K, 27K but its currently 4.7K, 27K, 6.2K, Jumper — Do I put those back to factory values, ...

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

It’s very good to hear that you did not just condemn it and take a wrecking ball to it. Someone who might had passed on put a lot of thought and time into that. Haha yea, it was good to at least get it fired up again to understand a bit more what was going on. Ideally I need someone to trace out a ...

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

Reporting back after some discovery. Got the filter caps changed out, new 3 wire power cord and some other misc done. Fired it up and she works out of the box, here's what I found. The 'Vibrato Pedal' foot switch on the back has been modified to indeed enable a new OD 'distortion' circuit as Reeltar...

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

I like this amp. This amp screams. How much do you want for this trashed pile of wtf? :D Has anyone eye traced it? That vib end of the board.. V3/4 both look like OD to me. I want to play this thing. It has an open frontend and the coupling up to the output says "I am the voice of authority!" This ...

Re: Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

The first order of business is to find a schematic (or draw one). Whoever did that work was not a hack. He was experienced, knew what he was doing, and did a neat job. Filter caps probably did not need replacing when that mod was done. I'll bet that he also drew a schematic too. Maybe you can find ...

Bastardized 1962 Blonde Bandmaster

Hello all, first time here, tons of great info I've read so bringing a tough one to you for guidance. I was so disheartened to open it up and find it so removed from original. Inherited this 1962 Bandmaster along with a thankfully all original 1965 Pro Reverb. Sadly it looks like this one has had a ...
