Re: Switchable micro to nano PP Class AB EF80 experiment

Very cool, and applicable to my interests - I have this wild hair that building a 1W-ish power amp section to be primarily used for the impedance/saturation effects before going into a cab modeler either direct for recording or to a PA. The best "feel" I've gotten for recording digitally has involve...

Re: Tonex useful captures

I'd take it with more latency for two reasons. Yeah, it's not a total dealbreaker, just something that tends to creep up unexpectedly if you're not paying attention to it. I was getting clever with an HX Stomp and my old Kemper rack AND stacking a Two Notes Opus at the end of a split from it for po...

Re: Tonex useful captures

Then you could run a Tonex One for your pre > modulation effects > Tonex One for your power amp > whatever amp or listening/recording device It's a good idea in theory, but in practice, latency tends to build up cumulatively with the more A/D -> D/A conversions happening in your signal path. Using ...

Re: "0 Watt Power Amp" - Synergy, now Tone King

However, building an all analog box with 2 preamp tubes + 1 PI tube and a small reactive load does seem like something worth trying. I have no idea how to couple the PI to a simplified low-power attenuator, e.g. this one , though. What should go between them in lieu of a power section :?: My though...

Re: Amp Repair YouTube Channel - Technology Enterprises

Thanks for the intro to your YT channel - I'll subscribe! As a late-comer to the internet knowledge transfer of tube guitar amp design techniques that seems to have peaked somewhere around the mid 2000s, when I was too scared to mod a Blues Driver pedal - I'm grateful for anyone still looking to sha...

Re: Tariffs on electronic parts

Placed a Mouser order today. Most line items are showing an estimated tariff of 10-30%. Overall the hit is 15% of the order total. :^\ About the same @ Digikey. I hate that "tariff tax" is now a new facet I have to consider when selecting which parts I'm comfortable buying. I've been making differe...

Re: 2 in 1 soldering/desoldering station

FWIW, Yihua is one of the better of the Chinese AliExpress brands that I've bought soldering stuff from - one of my soldering stations is a Yihua. It seems to be about as close to Weller quality as you can get from a cheaper import product. I would also check on AliExpress, because sellers sometimes...

Ah ha! Big WHOOPS video from JHS: Oh man, this is pretty funny considering Ryan's meticulous work in reversing the A Box Later circuit with Ayan's input - the level of detail that was able to be unearthed through lots of back and forth and circuit comparisons to arrive at an informed place about wh...
