Re: My 18/9 Watts ODS
Thx, It's a very quiet amp, and you got a very acceptable floor noise when the OD stage is engaged. I like the tone, when you push the volume in normal position, you got a very nice crunch, and the amp breaks out depending of the guitar volume position , à la Trainwreck.... I built another one for a...

Re: My 18/9 Watts ODS
Hi Stephen, I'm using the Tube Town 6112 FX Loop, which is about the same circuit than the Dumbleator. I take my B+ from B5, and there is a dropping resistor R11 to change depending of the B5 voltage. By the way, I made a mod on my reverb Circuit. I used the classic Fender deluxe reverb schematics, ...

Re: problemes while building an Express from a Jet Ciy JCA20H
Thank you guys for your possible solutions. I did not try everything. The 12AU7 in place of the PI is not good, we lose the spirit of the Trainwreck, the sound is not enough overdriven, even with the volume on 10. I tryed the divider before the PI, and ended up with a 68K and a 39 K. I begin to clip...

Re: problemes while building an Express from a Jet Ciy JCA20H
Do you mean the 150 k grid leak resistor on the third stage ? I'm talking about the Express schematics.

Re: problemes while building an Express from a Jet Ciy JCA20H
Talking about tinkerers.., Ken Bran, who was just a tech for Jim Marshall, Just Copied and Pasted the leo fender bassman, He just changed a few things in there and it became the JTM45... We don't need to redo what is already working. Ken Fisher and Howard Dumble were skilled technicians too, and the...

Re: problemes while building an Express from a Jet Ciy JCA20H
I tried to add the KF mod with the 820 ohms grid resistor before the 2nd stage. It's helping a little. I Don't want to install a MV, cos it's not the spirit of the Express. I 'm gonna try a PI with less gain, like a 12AT7 or a 12AY7. Anyways, the amp is working fine, and it's doing what we expect fr...

problemes while building an Express from a Jet Ciy JCA20H
HI, A friend of mine gave me a jet city JCA20H Head. I Wanted to build a light version of the Express, cos I don't need 50 Watters anymore, I got plenty of them. The jet city with 2xEL84 is easy to modify. So I used the PCB, got rid of the unwanted components, and made a Francesca circuit with it. I...

Express OT
Hi guys Im planning to build an Express with the Francesca schematics. Tube town in germany is a good supplier for the parts. Does anyone ever used their 35 w express OT ? What do you think of this choice ? https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/tt-trainwreck-express-style-output-transformer-6k6-4-8-16-o...

Re: 1970 French Brand forgotten (MI)
It seemed to me that the bias cap and the bypass cap of the first stage were fine... But you are right, I can do it. Talking about replacing caps I have a 1970 Marshall JMP 100 W. I never replaced any of the electolytics caps, it's all stock. Those are now 51 years old, and they are all working fine.

Re: 1970 French Brand forgotten (MI)
yep, and this one was missing, it's what is making the nice look of this amp. It costed me $ 97 to find a brand new one, I found it for $ 40, but I had to buy 2 of them because a minimum invoice of $80 was requested. But you are right, it's just a master with 4 positions. another thing that makes me...

1970 French Brand forgotten (MI)
Hi, begining of the 70s, a french brand called Musique Industrie (MI), used to make different amplifiers, solid states transistors (expensive at this time), and tube amps. I'm lucky to have found and refreshed one of them. The Mythic MI60. At that time, the british and american amps were too expensi...

Re: My 18/9 Watts ODS
all the components, plus the active loop and the power supply are comin from Tube Town in Germany ( https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/kits/ ) the mini tube is a 6112. this is very much inspired by the dumbleator. The wood is acacia that I Bought at the local Brico.... I Designed my faceplates with I...

My 18/9 Watts ODS
Here's my realisation, basically the #94, with 2x6V6. I added a reverb and an active FX loop. Triode mode to lower the power if needed. I had a Celestion G12T 75 that is working pretty good. I love the tone of that amp, nice clean, but with an incredible crunch when pushed, and a big fat overdrive c...
