Re: Improving this tone stack

Thank you guys for all your help, I can understand this much better now.
And I can play with TSC now! I'm thinking about the following changes..
Deeper bass and more scooped mids

Thank you so much!

Re: Improving this tone stack

Thanks! Would you mind helping me out with the TSC plot? I know how to change the values, but I can't really identify the components (which resistor is which, what is R5 in the plot).

I'll try the 33K.

Thanks again!

Improving this tone stack

Hi, I was wondering if you guys would have suggestions to improve this tone stack: https://i.imgur.com/b1M3ElJ.jpg Here's a better look at the resistors (maybe I'm wrong about values): https://i.imgur.com/9bHtG4v.jpg The bass is OK (maybe a little weak, I use it at 10), mids and treble could be at a...

Re: Squealing 8W SE

Helloooo the 12at7 was delivered today! I thought it would kill the gain, so I put it in v2 (left a 12ax7 electro harmonix in v1)... there is definitely more bottom end and just a little less gain, not much of a difference (still squealing at max gain and 50% master volume). So I changed the 12at7 t...

Re: Squealing 8W SE

You guys should be proud of me (minus the "buying shitty amp" part), I did almost everything you've suggested: 1) Twisted the input transformer wires 2) replaced the microphonic cap 3) Ordered a 12AT7 (should be here by Thursday). 4) replaced shitty input wires by shielded one Still squealing  ...

Ah, those are "pre-assembled cables" (montados), not what I have here.

Thanks!

Re: Squealing 8W SE

it is a ** construction, send pls those video to the constructor we will wait for the reply  also transformers are mounted in the worst position .. you can try to reduce gain with other tube and that's it, not possible to do too much if you have 0 experience .. (i would cut gain at least 100% ...

Re: Squealing 8W SE

yes, it was thick lol...
but I managed to install it, now the input cable is shielded.
Still squealing, though!

Re: Squealing 8W SE

I think the op should start a new thread to get the topic back onto what his issue is! Maybe the mods will split the thread to restore this one to the OP. Call the other one "8W from a 5W tube." I'd like to see where it goes, though I don't think we'll be surprised in the end. Lol... I don't really...

Re: Squealing 8W SE

The first thing I would do would be to use shielded wire to go from the input jack to the board. The shield should be grounded / connected only at the input jack. On the other end it should be Heat shrinked off. In the tight confines of the lunch box type Orange amps that I have kicked the gain up ...

Re: Squealing 8W SE

I don't know much about electronics, but I totally agree, it's way too much gain... I'll try the ecc81! If it's not too much to ask, how do I check if the secondary is grounded, and where exactly do I add a grid stopper? lol... If you think it's way above my head it's ok, I'll just replace the tube...

Re: Squealing 8W SE

i dont like design with this pcb. nobody is respecting any rules, like clearance for the start ? :? try to see if the secondary is grounded ,if isnt then would squeal.. if grounded is ok , then too.much gain with the layout can create oscillation, cure is to reduce gain between the stages, (change ...
